~Normans POV

As me and Ray leaned in, we were almost touching..............WHAM!

I felt a blinding pain in the side of my face, i could make out Ray saying something and another guy saying something, the other guy held up a basketball?

Oh, I get it now. I got hit in the head with a basketball. Right as me and Ray were about to kiss. Just great.

Ray helped me stand up, I could roughly make out him saying nurses office, I'm assuming he said he's taking me there. I sat down on the nurses office and got an ice pack on the bruise. I looked up and started to watch Ray. He looked gorgeous. The light was hitting his eyes just right to make the glow almost like kryptonite. Which is a fair description, after all he is my kryptonite.... not now brain. Ugh, honestly.
"So, um about what happened back there, d-do you still want to go out w-with me?"

Honestly that adorable stutter of his paired with those hopeful green eyes, is he trying to kill me?

"Of course, so this Saturday, does 6 work for you?" he nodded," okay then I'll pick you up at 6, okay?"

"Um okay that works, what should i wear?"

"Hmmm, something warm and pretty, though I doubt that'll be hard for someone as gorgeous as you?" I flirted lightly, it was worth it to see that slight blush on his pale cheeks. He nodded waved at me and walked out of the nurses office.

~Rays POV

OMG. He just asked me out. Norman, my best friend/crush. We almost kissed. I think I need to sit down.

I can't believe that just happened, and now here I am in my room, thinking about Monday. Tomorrow is my date with Norman. I couldn't stop smiling the entire day, everyone asked me what was going on, but me and Norman just shared a secret smile.

I was so happy, until I realized something.....

I HAVE NOTHING TO FRICKING WEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Argh!!!!!! I hate this" I growled out, I mean c'mon I finally get a date with the man of my dreams and I can't even Find something decent to wear.

~knock, knock

Oh, I must have been pretty loud for mom or Alyssa to have heard me.

"Yes?" i called out, I'm really not in the mood to explain what's going on to my baby sister.

"It's me hon, is everything alright, i have cookies~" my mom's voice rang out.

That woman, honestly she knows cookies are my weakness....

"Come in, but bring the cookies!" i yelled out

My mom walked in wearing the mama bear onesie me and Alyssa got her for mothers day last year. she held a plate full of cookies and a mug in her right hand.

"What's up hon, you sound like a dying cat?" she asked with that look on her face that just told you she already knew what you were gonna say.

After a couple moments of silence i finally answered.

"Norman asked me out, and I said yes!" I said with the excitement building in my voice.

"Oh my god, Ray that's amazing! I'm so proud of you!" my mom said. We spent the next few minutes discussing how it happened and stuff.

"...and then just as we were about to kiss, a basketball comes flying out of nowhere and hits Norman in the head!" my mom burst into laughter at that part of the story.

"Was he a-alright?"my mom said laughter still shaking her body.

"Yeah he was fine I took him to the nurse and he told me that he still wanted to go out with me, and to dress warm" I said.

"Well that sounds amazing hon, what's with the groaning then?" my mom asked settling back into my desk chair.

"That's the thing mom, I have nothing to wear, what if I wear something and he changes his mind?" I said burying my head in my hands.

"Ray, look at me please," I looked up at her," first of all, anyone who gets to date my son is the luckiest person on the whole damn earth," I flushed a vibrant red at that," Second, anyone who breaks up with you over something as superficial as looks isn't worth the effort anyway, I believe Norman isn't like that."

I felt better, I mean my mom was right.

".... And lastly, tomorrow me, you, and your sister can go on a shopping trip before your date how does that sound?"

Honestly this woman.......

I got up from my bed and hugged her.

"..thanks mom, your the best, I would love that!"

"So would I!" said a higher pitched voice from the door. Me and my mom looked u and saw Alyssa standing there with a sheepish grin on her face. Me and mom shared twin smirks before  running after my sister with plans for a tickle attack....

~The next day, 5:57 pm

~Normans POV

Todays the day, I felt good. Don and Emma had drove over and helped me get ready. I was wearing my usual white dress shirt, with a light flight jacket on top paired with light blue jeans. I picked up a bouquet of midnight blue roses for him. I hopped in my car and drove the route I'd driven so many times. Never before have I been this nervous while doing it. This wasn't my first date, but this was the first time I was nervous about sweating through my shirt..

I walked up the stairs to the door, but before I could knock the door flung open revealing a very excited Alyssa, now with light blue highlights in her dark hair.

"Norman you're here!, Ray isn't ready quite yet so you can hang out with me, but don't worry Ray looks suuuuuuper pretty, an-"

"Let the boy breath sweetheart," Ray's mom interrupted her. I sent her a grateful look.

" So you're the boy who asked out my baby?" she said with fake malice in her voice even though she's known me for years. She still scared the shit out of me.

" Um, yes ma'am, I- um"

"Calm down Norman it's just me" she said while cackling.

"I know it's just I want everything to go perfectly, he deserves it y'know?"

She gave me a quiet look of understanding, but only offered a hum.

"Do you guys want me to go see if Ray's ready yet?" asked Alyssa. We both nodded.

After she left we shared some small talk, just about school and Ray and blah, blah, blah. Until Alyssa came back  downstairs with cheshire cat grin.

"He's ready~" me and his mom both got up," Rrrraaaaaayyyyyy~, you can come down now~" she said.

Everything after this is a little fuzzy, my entire focus was on the gorgeous creature in front of me........
