Aurora stood out on the balcony of her room watching the snow fall and hit the ground sticking to the floor like a soft powder awaiting to be ruined by the children when they woke up to see once more that fresh snow was once more covering the grounds of the castle. She hugged her jacket slightly tighter to her body as her breath was visible from the cold. She looked around the castle grounds as it was near 4am and nobody was awake just yet, except her.
Alaric opened the balcony doors stepping outside with a tired look on his face.
"Aurora love come back to bed, we don't have to be up for at least another 3 hours," He sighed wrapping his arms around her small body shivering slightly at the cold her body was giving off.
"Alaric a war is coming. I worry every minute they will attack before we have a chance to wake the guards. If someone is too be awake it will be me, as I am the Queen of these people now. I swore to protect them with my life," Aurora spoke softly, still looking out to the castle grounds around them.
"I think I am going to run a perimeter check really fast. Go back to bed Alaric, I'll be back by the time you wake," Aurora smiled softly, giving her mate a small kiss on the lips.
"You are foolish to think I will let you go alone, I will join you come on," Alaric smiled, holding out his hand for her to take. They both began to walk out of the castle, before shifting into there supernatural sides. Alaric Lycan stood much taller than Aurora's wolf, but it made sense. Aurora's wolf nudged Atticus's leg before the both took off in a light jog around the perimeter of the castle grounds. Aurora stopped nearly half way through the run her hair standing up on her back as she growled at a noise that come from the direction of the forest. She stood in front of Atticus her growl becoming more threatening as whatever it was sounded closer.
"Aurora I do not need protecting," Alaric's voice filled her mind making her growl even harder snapping at his arm that hung near her face. Atticus let out a growl of his own, as his mate was being a bit aggressive.
"Your majesty's I did not mean to scare you, I was just out doing exactly what you are doing. Just patrolling the area for danger," Simon spoke, as he emerged from the bushes in his human form wearing just a pair of shorts.
"You are fine Simon I was just worried you were someone, or something else," The Queen spoke softly, through the mind link making Simon nod slowly before running off in the opposite direction of the king and queen.
"You have no right to snap at me Astrid," Atticus growled out next to her, as they began to lightly jog once more.
"I have every right to snap at you. I was protecting you, for once I was protecting you because I am not some weak queen who always needs saving Atticus," She growled out, before taking off in a full sprit leaving Atticus behind her as she ran through the forest dodging the trees and branches.
He was just trying to help you, you know? Astrid spoke softly, in the back of her mind.
Aurora let out a frustrated growl before shutting off the connection between her and her wolf, along with everyone else in the pack for the time being. She pushed her legs harder running at a speed she has never ran at before not really knowing where she was going anymore, she was running to run. Running to avoid everything that was happening. She let out a large yelp as she tripped over a rock tumbling her way down the hilly bank that she was planning on running around. Once she stopped tumbling she stood too her feet letting out a heavy growl annoyed with herself.
She looked around slowly, before her ears flattened at the sight in front of her. Two graves were marked and her mothers and fathers names were written in a lovely fount across the stones. She knew that there bodies were not in them as it was accustomed to be burned at death, so your ashes can be carried in the wind back to the moon goddess herself. She slowly made her way over to the two stone sniffing at them softly before sitting down in front of them. She quickly shifted back into her human form tears filling into her eyes quickly.
