(do I like 3rd person? hMMm)

The blonde alchemist took a deep breath, leaning back in his chair. A day of experimenting all for...nothing. It was quite rare for Albedo to spend that much time being so unproductive but it happens to everyone every once in a while. Although, that didn't change how frustrating it felt, spending so long shoved behind a desk, taking notes which seemingly lead to nowhere, when he could've spent more time on his own personal hobbies like drawing.

(oh no the self-projection ALREADY??)

He sighed, getting up and stretching. After so long being seated he had almost forgotten what it felt like to stand. Perhaps now would be a good time to go for a walk! People always said that walking gets new blood flowing to your brain, and that would surely help him finally get done with these papers. Alas, he went on grabbing his short-sleeved jacket, (I'm sorry but like what's the point of even wearing one if it doesn't even have sleeves-) and going off for a walk.

It was cool outside, but not cold enough to bother him, he had seen a lot worse in dragonspine. He walked slowly, deep in thought, stopping only occasionally to take a sample of a lamp grass or a windwheel aster, but never for more than a few seconds. He took a seat by a tree, pulling out his sketchbook beginning to sketch his surroundings until he felt a strange presence nearby.. Not the one of a typical hilichurl or even of a child wandering around (which would be unlikely since it would be past their bedtime),, this one felt slightly familiar. He figured it could just be one of the knights on patrol walking by and if he just didn't acknowledge them, they would go away.

Oh, but they didn't. They continued to stand there, and now it was very clear to Albedo that whoever it was, was very obviously watching him. The discomfort in him grew as the minutes passed and he found his gentle strokes on the page getting slower and slower as he turned all his focus to not turning around to see who was there.

"Damn... either you're ignoring me or you're blind"

The person behind him spoke and Albedo realized the voice was quite familiar. Definitely a knight but not someone he's directly spoken to... Well, come to think of it, how many knights has he actually directly spoken to for more than just a few minutes? Jean, Amber but just a few times, Lisa, Sucrose,, does Klee count? Either way, he remained silent, his sketching speeding up to a normal pace now.

"...or deaf apparently?"  He gasped "was it one of those explosions?? I didn't know that the chief alchemist was deaf..."

"I am not deaf." Albedo finally spoke, still not turning to speak to the figure or really showing any interest at all. He had found out that someone was watching him and that's all he really cared about, anything else was necessary.

"Oh, so you were ignoring me... I'd be offended but I suppose the focused mind is hard to interrupt-"

"Who are you?"

"Oh- okay yeah that one hurt a bit more. Do you really not recognize me?"

"No. You sound familiar but I don't feel like doing some memory search to figure out who you are."

"Fair enough.. Cavalry Captain, Kaeya. We're both knights.... I really thought you would at least recognize my voice or something.."

Ah, the Cavalry Captain. Albedo had heard a lot about him, especially complaints from Jean about his... Alcohol intake, but Albedo had never taken the time to actually talk to him personally.  Only ever getting a quick glance of him while heading off to gather ingredients or while babysitting Klee. He wasn't one to reach out to people, so he never took the time to try to talk to him. Despite not caring about this interaction, he found himself standing up to face him anyways.
"Ah, Captain Kaeya, nice to meet you. I am Albedo, Chi-"
"Chief Alchemist of the Knights of Favonius. Yes, I know. I've seen you around, always looking pretty.. busy. Never really had the chance to talk to you"
Talking to the Captain in person was truly something else. I mean, Albedo had never seen him for long enough to see that he had an eyepatch, and he certainly didn't notice just how...revealing? his clothes were.. Not necessarily a bad thing, confidence is key, but slightly shocking.
"My apologies, it's nothing personal. I suppose I'm just not one to start relationships"
"Not a problem. After all, we are talking right now aren't we? I might as well enjoy it. What brings you out here so late?"
"I wanted to get some fresh air and sketch, how about you?"
"Oh, just lurking around. Happened to see a figure and decided to investigate, and well now I'm here"
The conversation was quite awkward from here. Albedo's interest slowly shifting away from the conversation which didn't seem to ever get anywhere.
..
"It was nice talking to you, Captain. If you'll excuse me it's getting late and I need to get some rest. Perhaps you should too."
"Ah yes yes of course. Understandable. Well you stay safe when heading back, alright?"
"Alright." The alchemist promptly began to take his things and started to walk away, not making it very far before getting interrupted by the captain.
"Albedo, if you aren't busy, we should go to the tavern and get a drink. I'd truly love to have the chance to talk to you again, from knight to knight of course."
"...We shall see."
Albedo wasn't listening, he had no idea what the Captain had just said, his focus on a strange flower he wanted to take back to his lab. He stood there for a few seconds, waiting for a response, but upon hearing none from the captain, he simply continued walking, picking the flower on his way.

The captain remained there for a little while, his thoughts all were of this strange alchemist. He had a mysterious aspect to him, almost secretive. Kaeya was typically able to tell ones intentions by simply looking at them, a skill he had put to use greatly in his work with the knights, but with Albedo things were different. He genuinely couldn't tell.. Perhaps it was a good idea to ask him to the tavern. More time to try to decipher the man.
