Background

In this Soulmate AU, when you meet your soulmate you feel a burning on your arm that is quite painful and a symbol is permanently on your wrist that matches your soulmates'. This symbol can be anything but it is something that relates to you and your soulmate. When the bond is first established it is quite sensitive so the bond-mates must be close together until the bond feels settled and stable and once that happens the bond-mates can be apart but eventually they have to be close together again or the bond will cause them more pain as time goes on. After that each bond is different, some people can read each other's minds, feel each other's emotions or just be normal after, it just depends on the bond.

---Chapter 1: Cherry Bomb---

In this world, everyone has a soulmate, you could meet your soulmate at a young age, much later in life, or for the rare few they never meet them.

It was both the giving hand of destiny and the cruel hand of chance that decided when you met your soulmate.

Sometimes they come when you need them most and sometimes they come when you least expect it.

But one thing always remained true when you felt that burn on your wrist it was time.

"Let me see the dress, girly!", I heard my best friend say excitedly through the dressing room door.

I let out a small laugh. "Okay, okay, I'm coming," I say as I walk out.

My best friend lets out a whisper and says, "Woww sexy," and we both laugh knowing where that joke is from.

Ava and I have been best friends since kindergarten and were like sisters at this point, she knew me better than anyone.

That is why I didn't want to experience tomorrow night with anyone else but her. It was honestly still crazy to me that tomorrow will be the first time I have ever been to an NCT concert but coming from a less fortunate family, spare money could hardly go to concerts when sometimes it was a struggle just to make groceries and pay bills.

But I worked two jobs, moved out of the house (now in a two-bedroom apartment with Ava) and for the first time in my life I had the money for my own interests.

Hence, why I am in this store buying a dress for the concert tomorrow, I honestly thought it was silly to buy a whole new outfit just for a day but Ava convinced me that we should be able to treat ourselves since we both already spend money for almost front row tickets, a meet-and-greet, and put extra money aside for travelling and merch.

So basically her logic was we are going to be broke-broke after this so might as well enjoy it while we can.

"Thanks, I really like this one so I think I'll get it," I reply to Ava's compliment.

"Yay! I'm so excited to see all the boys in real life tomorrow! I can't wait for Yuta to see me in this dress."

I roll my eyes a bit, "Girl, Yuta is not about to give a damn about your dress, you're just another girl in the faces of thousands," I say in a teasing manner.

Ava sighs a bit, "You're right but hey a girl can dream. I guess it would be more realistic to have Mark notice us since we are kind of like childhood friends."

That was an interesting fact that both Ava and I had, I actually knew Mark from when he was a little boy since the three of us went to the same elementary school. It was crazy to me that the sweet boy from my school that suddenly disappeared from school had debuted as an international superstar in South Korea. It was still unbelievable to me that I got to know someone like that before they were famous. But in my mind, Mark would always be the cute smiling boy that laughed a lot in class (I guess not much has changed).
