"He's actually really easy to talk to," Samantha swore to Leah. "Really! He doesn't talk a lot, but if you talk to him he responds, and not in like an I don't want to talk kind of way, he gives actual conversational answers and is super nice and he likes Harry Potter and -"
"Sammi, slow down!"
"Samantha."
"Right. Samantha. You mean to tell me that Jake's not just an emo kid who'll ignore you whenever he can?" Leah gave her a disbelieving look.
"He's not! He's actually a very respectful peson." Samantha crossed her arms and defended him. "I mean, his whole personality is a total mood, but really, you should talk to him sometime. He's nice."
"Or he's tolerant," Leah offered.
"No - Leah, I don't think you get it." Samantha would keep arguing with her friend if the first bell hadn't gone off, letting everyone know it was time to get to first period. "Well, gotta run, but really. Everything I've said is 100% true."

Samantha met up with Jake again after school.
If Jake thought she was weird for randomly and constantly coming to talk to him, he didn't say anything. Which would be a totally Jake thing to do, so Samantha made sure she was polite.
"Hey Jake!" She said to him with a small smile and a wave, holding her English textbook to her chest. She hadn't had time to put it away, rushing after Jake to make sure she could talk to him.
She had seven days left. Exactly a week. To get him to kiss her.
"Hello Samantha."
Oookay, so maybe she wasn't quite used to being called that yet. It was still weird.
"Hi. So, you're, like, a nice person, so I was thinking, maybe we could hang out again some time?"
Jake nodded. "Sure." He kept walking, and his legs were pretty long, so Samantha had to walk pretty fast to keep up with him.
"So, do you have a phone? I could give you my phone number," Samantha offered. She was going through all of the steps to trying to get into at least a shallow relationship with him in only a week, and... getting his phone number was an important one.
"I have a phone. You can give me your phone number." This time, Jake stopped walking and waited for her to rip a piece of paper off the corner of a notebook in her backpack.
She scribbled down her phone number: (856) 233-2819. "Sorry for the area code difference. I just moved here from Oakland."
Jake took the slip of paper and stuffed it in his pocket, nodding.
"Text me when you can?"
"I will," Jake said, and then walked out towards his bike. Samantha stayed back and watched him swing his leg over the seat and pedal away in the same direction he'd gone last time. She took a minute to watch his thick black hair wave in the wind.
What, it's not like the Queens chose him for Samantha to try to kiss for no reason! He is hot, that's been established.

Hi.
It was a very simple text message, to which Samantha replied, Hello! :)
When she didn't recieve a further response (duh) she pulled out her English textbook to get started on her reading for the next day. She looked in the top for where her bookmark separated the pages and opened it to that page, and -
Money?
Since when was there money in her English textbook?
Wait.
Wait.
Samantha rapidly counted the amount of money - and, sure enough - it was exactly -
She quickly pulled out her phone and clicked the number that had texted her "Hi," reminding herself to put it in her contacts as "Jake Samuels" later. Her fingers flew across the keyboard, typing: You didn't have to pay me back for ysterday!
Well she must have clicked send too soon, since she was missing an e in yesterday, but she decided to let it go because Jake was typing.
Then then the message popped up: But I did.
And Samantha laughed because that was such a Jake thing to do, such a Jake thing to say. Not, I know, but I wanted to! Just But I did.
$23.79. You're getting it back tomorrow, I typed and sent, making sure to look for typos this time.
Metaphorical silence for a moment.
Then the three dots appeared, and then: If you give it back, you'll get it back again.
Samantha leaned back in her chair, laughing. Wow, Jake.
She was really beginning to like this guy.
So now she knows that she likes him - but not that she likes him. She knows that he's more to her than a plan to get popular - but she doesn't realize she's going to fall for him yet.
If you enjoyed, don't forget to vote, and if you didn't, leave some feedback so I can make the story better! Or maybe you enjoyed and you want to leave feedback anyway! :) Have a great day.
