Lunch Friday had been so anticipated by Sammi as the final turning point in her Freshman year - where she finally became popular, just like back in middle school. Instead, it had been a complete disaster. Because the Queens had been mean to her friend.

She had been mean to her friend.

And now it was Saturday. The day of the fall dance. And she had reason to believe her date wouldn't want to go with her anymore. Acvery reasonable thing for him to decide.

The arrangement had been that Jake's mother would drive him to her house, they'd pick her up, and they'd sit in the backseat and talk and pretend his mom wasn't there. Then they'd get to the dance and have a blast as a new couple.

Sammi knew she should clarify if that was still happening, but dreaded texting Jake after what happened the day before.

She knew she should probably text Leah too. But... she was dreading that as well.

So she figured she just... wouldn't go. She'd tell her mom that she and Jake had both decided not to go so she wouldn't wonder what had happened.

So in a comfy shirt and sweatpants, Sammi closed her door, layed down on her stomach on her bed, and buried herself in a book about a girl whose life was nothing like the disaster hers had become.

When the doorbell rang, she expected her mother to get it. But after five seconds, it rang again. And again. And then five times in a row. And eventually Sammi reluctantly put down her book and brought herself back to reality, trudging down the stairs to open the door for the persistent visitor.

She opened the door and her stomach dropped to the floor when she saw Jake, his hair blowing in the noisy wind that warned of an approaching storm.

"Jake," she said, her throat dry. "...Come in."

"No, come outside. The wind in my hair makes me look cool."

Sammi couldn't help a light laugh as she opened the door and stepped outside. Her boyfriend - or... ex-boyfriend?... did indeed look amazing that way.

"Sammi - I... came here to talk."

"I know. I know." Sammi looked down, pulling her now wild hair behind her ear.

"You think you know what I'm going to say."

Sammi neither confirmed nor denied - she just stared at the ground as the first raindrop hit her head.

"When I decided not to go to the fall dance I was counting on you having the same thought. Your sweatshirt seems to indicate I didn't blow you off."

"Yeah. I figured you wouldn't come."

"I figured you wouldn't want me to."

"I figured you wouldn't want to." More raindrops.

The streetlights also contributed to his look with the wind as it got darker and the rain picked up. "What you did to Leah was messed up."

"I know." Sammi felt a tear fall down her cheek. "I wanted so badly to be friends with these awful people that I disregarded the friend I already had."

"So you can see it."

"Yes! I'm not them." Her tears came faster and so did the rain. "I'm not just your girlfriend because of them, even if it started that way. I'm not Samantha, the girl who shamed Leah in front of the there most famous girls in the school, I'm Sammi. Leah's friend. Your girlfriend. I'm sorry, and I know I have to talk to Leah and apologize to her, not you, but I just want you to know, I'm sorry."

"Leah will forgive you, I know it," Jake said.

Sammi wiped her tears. "Can we go inside?" She said with a sniffle that indicated that sue was crying. "The rain and my tears are mixing and I feel like I'm in a fanfiction."

And that broke the tension. Jake laughed. "Well," he said, "if we're in a fanfiction, and we're outside in the dark while it's raining, I'm pretty sure it's illegal for us to not kiss."

And so Sammi leaned forward and their lips met in a kiss that was slow, deep, and romantic. She had her answer for Makayla: He was a fabulous kisser.

But she wouldn't be telling the Queens anything. This was a dramatic, sweet moment she and Leah could squeal about later.

When the kiss broke, they stared into each other's eyes and smiled. "This is definitely a fanfiction," Jake said with a nod. Both if them laughed before opening the door to her house and getting out of the rain.

Not a fanfiction, but a Wattpad story. Lol. I kinda wanted a super dramatic movie scene that makes fun of itself a little, cause this calls for a drama scene but I try to make my writing funny. Let me know if you liked it!
