Sorry, this chapter is really long, I can't save without Internet connection so I have to stay on this one, if I start a new one, the entire rose POV and some of baileys will disappear. :(

Ch. 12

The true gryffindor

~*~*~*~

Potions class that day wasn't that bad, Professor Harlequinn was almost kind- of close to fair to my house, and that was something, at least.

I was surprised to see that slimy little Malfoy kid wearing Slytherin colors, bragging about how Gryffindor wasn't good enough for him, so he changed to the BETTER house, Slytherin. I made a mental note that if I ever went into half- wolf mode again, I would do it with him around.

Apparently, he had gotten his daddy to fix his problem for him. Loser.

Professor Harlequinn showed us how to make a potion that cures boils. He told me I had done a good job on my potion and awarded my house 5 points, although Scorpius got 15 for doing the same thing as I.

He tested the potions on a frog, and mine was the best- working. I grinned at Malfoy, and he scowled back. Yeah, I was starting to like this class.

After what seemed like an eternity with those snake- heads, we finally got out of that cold, moist classroom and wandered out into the sunlight to walk to Hagrid's hut.

~*~*~*~

I approached Hagrid's 'classroom', a general plot of land near his hut. He had a paddock in a corner, probably to contain dangerous creatures. The thought wasn't exactly 'comforting'.

The rest of my class gathered around Hagrid, and unfortunately we were accompanied by the slytherins, too. Man, could we ever get a break from those creeps? I mean, I don't think that all of them are bad, but they make it hard not to stereotype.

"All righ' class, today we're gonna be studyin' some beau'iful creatures. If you'll all follow me, this-a-way, c'mon!" He said once he saw that everyone was there.

We walked over to the paddocks, and saw that there were a whole bunch of eagle- lion-ish creatures, about 20 standing inside. A few were playing tug-of-war with a dead ferret. Ugh.

"Now, all of yeh better pair up, yeh'll each have to share one for today's lesson..." I immediately went to look for Rose, but she had already paired up with Delia Kolara, a chocolate- brown- haired gryffindor girl who shared a bunk with us. Delia was a nice girl, but I was still kind of put off that Rose hadn't come looking for me.

I looked around to find that everyone had a partner, all but me. I noticed some brown-haired guy off in a corner, looking for a partner as well. A big gust of wind blew, and I saw his green-and-silver tie flutter in the wind. Great, I would be with a slytherin.

But wait, there was more! He wasn't just ANY slytherin. When he turned around, I recognized his face. He was THE slytherin, the one that hexed me. Oh yay.

"Miss Spencer, Mr. Martinez, you two can pair up. There we go, now everyone can have a partner." Hagrid said, being no help at all. The Martinez kid turned around to find his partner, and his eyes widened when he saw me. I growled- yes, actually growled- and said,"Come on, smart ass. Looks like you got yourself paired with little old me." I grabbed his arm (reluctantly, I might add) and felt him stiffen as I pulled him towards the rest of the group.

"'ese here are Norwegian griffins, much kinder and smaller than their cousins, the diamondback griffins, and the Russian griffins. These ones have alre'y been tamed, but they'll still help yeh learn how to treat 'em, their talons, claws, and feathers are commonly used in yer potions class, and some jobs at the ministry require knowin how to care fer 'em."
