A/n hai guys. Pretend I know what day of the week this chapter is supposed to be •~• if I already said what day bailey's birthday was, either correct me or... IZ MAKING A NEW ONE.

~*~*~*~

I yawned and sat up, stretching, then winced. Pomphrey's magic could only do so much to heal injuries, and I bruise like a banana. My entire left arm was a sickly shade of purpleish yellow. Eew. It had been a few days since "the incident", as Rose had taken to calling it. Rose knew what she would dress up as for the ball, but of course, she wouldn't tell me. Grr.

Wiggy swooped into my dorm and landed on my head. I laughed, glad that she hadn't landed on my arm, and petted her head. She had a little lumpy envelope tucked into a pouch on her leg. I raised an eyebrow and grabbed it.

Tearing open the pale purple envelope (gee, I wonder who the LAVENDAR envelope could be from...), I tried to make as little noise as possible. A small vile of transparent green liquid fell onto my bedsheets. I pulled out a little slip of paper. It said:

Bailey,

I heard about what happened in the black lake, PLEASE be more careful next time you see a mysterious creature emerge from nowhere. Naturally, I didn't tell your father, we both know he would flip and go mad with worry. I'm just glad you're okay.

Anyway, I got you a bit of a potion at a local cauldron shop. It should help with your bruises. Consider this another early birthday present from yo' momma. (Well, not too early. If your owl doesn't take forever, you should get this about a day before your birthday.)

Write back soon!

Xx- your mommy.

"Watcha got there?"

I must've jumped 5 feet in the air.

"Rose, what did I tell you about sneaking up on people?" I asked, trying to calm down a bit. Rose pouted. "Don't sneak up creepily on people," she said grumpily. "Yes, and?" She sighed. "It doesn't matter who I sneak up on, aslongasitisn'tBailey." She said, crossing her arms. "Good," I patted her head,"five points for Gryffindor."

She snatched the note off my lap. "Bad! Bad Rose! Ten points from Gryffindor!" I yelled, trying to take it back. She just held me at arm's length, as if I were a child.

There was some silence as Rose read my paper. Leighanna snored silently in her bed. Tatyana squirmed in Amani's closet. I was just about ready to fall asleep again...

"GASP!" Rose yelled, waking Amani. I would've laughed if I weren't so annoyed at jumping another 5 feet in the air. "R," I said in a robotic voice,"did you really just say 'gasp?'"

"Shut up." She said, looking pis- cough cough, I mean annoyed. Like, really annoyed. "You didn't tell me that..." She looked at the date written on the corner of the paper, then started mumbling to herself, doing the math. Her eyes widened. "TODAYISYOURFREAKINGBIRTHDAYWHATTHEHECKBAILEY" she yelled in one breath. While I didn't understand a syllable of what Rose said, Amani caught every jumbled- up word. "EEEEEE!" She squealed,"it's your BIRTHDAY?!" She said, grinning from ear to ear. "Eh... Yes?" I said sheepishly. "I guess Wiggy was lazy on her way here, I should've gotten this yesterday..." I mumbled, earning myself a peck on the back of my head. "Ow! Wiggyyyyy." Then a slap. "OW! Rose! You guys are going to bruise me even more." I whined. "How could you not tell me, your BEST FRIEND, when your birthday is?"

"How do you know Albus isn't my best friend?"

Another slap.

"Okay, okay. God Rose. I didn't know I wasn't about to acknowledge that I actually have more than 1-" I looked at Amani,"er, 2 close friends. Jeez." "Oh, come ON." She drawled,"when was the last time you actually acknowledged that either Albus or Caden exist?" She asked, hands on her hips. Amani, ever the girl for gossip, walked over in her tye- dye pajamas and plopped down on my bed, playing with my little vial of greenish potion. I thought as Rose stared me down. "Probably when you guys visited me in the hospital wing-" "Bail, that was weeks ago. That really DOESN'T COUNT." I thought about what she was saying, biting the corner of my lip (a recently accuired habit that is probably the sexiest way to bust a lip). "You're right." I decided. I stood up and grabbed the potion from Amani, walking out of the room. At the doorway I stopped to look down at my unicorn pajama shorts and t-shirt with a picture of a cartoony stack of pancakes in the middle. Content with my oh-so-fabulous outfit, I kept walking.

Some guy who must've been a year or 2 above me saw me walking towards Albus's room started to say,"Hey, you can't go in th-" I cut his stupid voice off by slamming the door to the room.

I walked up to a familiar head of perma-messy hair and jumped on his bed. "Albus-wake-up-now-now-now-now!" I said, gleefully shouting out words between jumps. He groaned. "Sure, now you remember me. Can't you pretend I don't exist for just a FEW more hours? It's a Saturday," He said into his pillow. I frowned and jumped faster, then plopped down next to him on his bed. "But Albuuuuuuuuuuus. Albuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuus. ALBUUUUUUUUUUUU-" "Albus, wake up and SHUT. HER. UP." Groaned some kid in a bed on the other side of the room. I stuck my tongue out in his general direction, failing at holding back giggles. "Get up. Up I say. I command thee." He groggily faced me and opened one emerald- green eye, raising an eyebrow. "What." He asked in a monotone voice. "Rose thinks I should acknowledge your existence." "Good for Rose." He closed his eyes again. "Nooooo." I whined. "Get up. We shall go have fun today." I declared. "Why should I listen to you?" He grumbled. "Because it's her BIRTHDAY!" Rose said, appearing next to me. Another 5 feet. I shot Rose a look, and she mouthed "sorry."

"Good for her, mine was yesterday," he grumbled, but he made an effort to at least sit up. He looked at both of us. "EH MA GAWD HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOU LAZY BLOB. Let us go eat celebritory pancakes." I said, trying to pull them both out of the room. Rose sat next to Albus. "Pancakes AGAIN?" Rose complained. My turn to pout. I flopped down next to them and huffed. "Fine." I grumbled,"let Albus choose what we eat. Grumpy Bday boy."

{}{}{} (that WAS Albus's symbol, right?)

I just don't get it. For a week, I was nothing to Bailey. She destroyed a million chances at conversation, and it seemed as if she would take entirely different hallways to get to class just to ignore me. Now she expects me to congratulate her just because it's her birthday? That's not how it worked for me, now is it?

But she's just so... Sweet isn't the right word, I think she might've broken one of my ribs trying to wake me up... Well, it's hard to describe Bailey. You CAN stay mad at her, but you forget why you were mad in the first place.

So that pretty much explains why I was awake at 6:43 on a Saturday.

Bailey sat next to Rose and said something about choosing what to eat. Both girls looked at me expectantly, but I just flopped back onto my pillow and mumbled,"Ask Caden."

The girls turned their heads towards Caden's bed, right next to mine. They immediately jumped to their feet and started ruthlessly bouncing on his bed, like they did to mine.

"Caaaaaaden, cadennnnn, CAAAAADEN!" "SHUT IT." Grumbled Sander, the only other guy in the room who had been woken by Bailey and Rose. The girls laughed and kept jumping.

"W h a t?" Caden mumbled angrily. Bailey sat down and rested on her stomach and put her chin on her hands, looking at Caden seriously. She then said,"Albus is a butt and shall not tell us what to eat for breakfast so tell us." Caden gave her a blank stare. "That's what you broke my ribs to ask?" He said after a moment of silence. "Caden, I think we just established that. I don't have time to fool around." He shook his head, trying to hide a smile. If Bailey had ignored me before, he must've felt nonexistent; I could tell he was happy to have her attention again. "Why don't you just eat pancakes like you do every other day of the year? Don't you live off of pancakes?" "HA!" Bailey yelled,"HE SAID P-" "Didn't I JUST say shut it?" Sander complained. Bailey frowned and crossed her arms. "Well, you all have to eat pancakes. You all, and Amani." Everyone groaned, including Amani, who had just walked in.

"You've doomed us to more pancakes!" Rose whined. "I thought we'd escaped your pancakes." I mumbled. Bailey hopped back over to my bed. "Hey Albus? Can you get me pancakes?" "No." "Oh come on, pleeeease?" She asked, giving me puppy-dog eyes. I sighed. "I hate you." I said, both of us knowing I'd given in. She rolled her eyes and giggled. "You know you love me." She said arrogantly. "Oh really?" I grumbled,"I have to go get pancakes at 6 am. Loooove you Bail." She sighed dramatically.

"Bail, let's goooo! Albus, bring the pancakes to the common room." Rose instructed. Bailey sighed yet again, and kissed my cheek. "Bye Albus!" She said, standing up. As an afterthought, when she was in the doorway she said,"Bye grumpy guy! Bye Caden!" And then she was gone. Now... Where the heck do I find pancakes?
