"You can close your mouth now." I chuckled.
Aidan blushed and closed his mouth. We were on the car and heading to nowhere. Aidan still hadn't got over on how I looked. Judging by his reactions, I'll say I looked great.
"Aidan, where are we going?" I asked against for the thirty-seventh time.
"Stop asking Celine. I'm telling you, it's a surprise." He chuckled.
"I hate surprises." I pouted.
"Too bad, then."
"If you don't tell me, I won't talk to you for the rest of the ride."
"Thank God." He muttered.
How gentlemanly.
Twenty-six minutes later, (yes, I counted) we stopped in front of a forest. My reaction: Dafuq? Aidan got out of the car and opened the door to my side for me.
"Where are we?" I asked.
"I don't know." He shrugged.
"What? You picked the place, how can you not know! Aidan, please don't tell me we're lost!" I half-shouted.
"Relax and follow me." He laughed and took my hand. There goes the tingles and goosebumps.
We walked past the forest and into this vast open space. There was a little mat at the middle where we would be sitting and eating. But what surprised me the most was the sky. There was so many stars, all looking like little beautiful dots on the sky. Hell, there was even shooting stars. I closed my eyes and made a wish. I'm not telling, FYI.
"Oh My God, Aidan. It's beautiful out here." I gushed as I sat down on the mat.
"Isn't it?" He smiled at the sky. "One day, I was just depressed because of the events that had been happening around me. I went out for a drive, not caring where I'll end up and here we are. I always come here to think and all."
This had been his special place and he shared it with me. How sweet. Though this seems familiar.
"You know, Isabel told me stories of her mother and father when they were still together. She wasn't even born yet but her mother told her about the dates that her dad brings her mom to. One of them was star-gazing in the middle of nowhere. She used to laugh about it, saying that the may have ended up in Mexico or something." I laughed at the memory.
Aidan stared at me, his face hesitant. "Uh.. I know this is our date and all but out of sheer curiosity, what happened to Isabel's father?"
I stiffened and hardened my gaze. "It's not my place to tell. When the time comes and Isabel learns to trust you and Jordan, she'll tell you. She has this thick and huge walls around her. It wasn't easy to get in. Even Nick had a hard time getting in. It was all worth it in the end. Isabel's a great friend. We've known each other for years and we've always been together."
He nodded on understanding. "Well, enough about this depressing topics, let's eat!" he grinned.
So we ate, talked, shared fun memories, told each other about our families and made fun of each other. It was one of the most fun moments I've ever had.
Aidan packed away the utensils and place it aside, scouting closer to me and wrapped his arm around my shoulder.
"So, what dot you think?" Aidan asked.
"Thank you so much, Aidan. The place is beautiful, thank you for sharing this place with me. Overall, I had a great time." I smiled.
"Good, because that was just part one." He smiled, his eyes twinkling with mischief.
"Part one? Aidan, this picnic was enough!"
"Meh, Isabel gave me a talk on how I should be good to you or else."
"Sounds like her. I mean, she can kill you five different ways with a belt. Not kidding there."
"She scares me." He shuddered.
I pursed my lips. "I told you, that's just a mask."
"I know." He said softly. "So don't get angry at me."
Bull. I can never get angry at him.
"I'm not." I whispered and snuggled closer to him, burying my face on his chest.
He chuckled. "Are you cold?"
"A bit." I replied, my voice muffled against his chest.
He pushed me off gently, took off his jacket and made me wear it.
"Come on, time for part two." He said, tugging my arm.
*
"You've gotta be fucking kidding me." I gasped at the huge hot air balloon in front of us.
"Why? Wait, don't tell me you're afraid of heights!" Aidan said, shaking me.
I swatted his hands away. "I'm not, but seriously? A hot air balloon? This flippin' awesome!" I squealed and ran towards it.
Aidan laughed and followed me.
There was a crew that were settling everything for us and checking things here and there to make sure it's safe.
"Okay, Aidan. Y'all are ready to go." A guy with a blue SnapBack out his thumbs up.
We stepped in the basket of the hot air balloon and closed the 'door'. I squealed in excitement. This is actually my first time in a hot air balloon. I can brag to Izzy about this.
Aidan and I settled into a comfortable silence as we started rising from the ground. I look down below and gasped at the view.
Oh. My. God.
"It's like I can see everything!" I squealed.
"It's a great feeling, isn't it?" Aidan grinned and stood beside me to look down as well.
"Oh my God, Aidan. Thank you for making my first date truly memorable." I smiled.
"First date?"
"Yup. The very first."
"Wow, I feel honored. But why? You're beautiful."
I blushed.
"People ask me but, it's just a waste of time, really."
"So why'd you agree to mine?" He teased.
"Oh, shut up." I smacked his arm.
We continue admiring the view for ten minutes before we slowly descended.
*
"Here we are." Aidan announced as he pulled over in front of my house.
He got out of the car and again, opened the door for me.
I unlocked the gates and we stood facing each other awkwardly on my doorstep.
I fiddled with my skirt. "So... Uh... I-uh-aga..."
Aidan laughed. "Did you have a good time?"
"Definitely!" I nodded my head vigorously.
He laughed again at my enthusiasm. "Worthy of a second date?"
"Don't push it."
We both laughed and I leaned forward to whisper, "Maybe." and winked at him.
He grinned at me boyishly and walked away to his car after bidding me 'good night'.
I watched him drive away with a smile plastered permanently on my face.
