Lexi's Pov
We left the small bar that we had just eaten dinner at and we were heading back to the opera house to hang out and maybe do some exploring. The streets were dark but it was still relatively warm from the summer heat. While I was sober due to my distaste for alcohol Lacey and Ace were at least reasonably tipsy. They giggle as Derick and I helped them down the cobblestone street.
"LLLEEEEEXXXXXIIIIIII" Ace whined at me.
"what" I humored him.
"There's a shadow running."
"what," I asked again
"A shadow running" I was about to tell him that shadows can't run on their own when I realized what he meant. At that moment I got hit by something or more appropriately someone. I shrieked as we went tumbling down a ditch that we happened to be walking past. I felt a sharp pain go through my leg when we stopped moving.
I could hear the voices of Derick and Ace calling down to me but I wasn't able to respond. I opened my eyes trying to reorient myself only to see that the man was directly on top of me. I pushed him off of me but he wasn't moving.
"Guys" I called
"Oh my gosh Lexi are you alright?" one of them responded it was hard to determine who had said it from here.
"ya I'm fine but he isn't moving. Can one of you come down here are help me get him up?"
Ace even if he was drunk proceeded to practically throw himself down into the ditch. "well that wasn't well thought out"
"shut up!" He said while picking up the man and getting out of the ditch. He held him over his shoulder which is no easy feat. Though out of everyone Ace was the biggest and most likely the strongest but Derick would disagree with me on that point. It was my turn to climb out I had a little trouble from the pain in my ankle but I was ok.
"We should head back to the opera house" Derick suggested I nodded in an agreement but Lacey brought up the amazing point.
"what about him." We all looked at the man that Ace had over his shoulder. Then I suggested,
"let's just bring him with us I mean what is the worst that can happen." Most of the group nodded and we were off.
Once we made it back we brought the mystery man to a vacant room. Now that I got a good look at him I was quite surprised by his outfit and appearance, in general. The Man wore an outfit that seemed reminiscent of the 1800s with an old cape that looked like it had been eaten away by moths. The most interesting thing about him had to have been his mask. It covered everything but his mouth and his eyes. He certainly was an interesting fellow.
"Let's take off his mask." Ace said I was about to protest but my curiosity got the best of me and what reason for someone to were a mask anyways. I was disproven the moment Ace removed his mask. The man we saw was like a skeleton his nose was just a hole and his eyes wear sunken in. Everyone let out a gasp as we took in the sight before us.
"well at least now we know why he is wearing the mask," Lacey said we all awkwardly laughed along.
"when he wakes up we shouldn't mention it," Derick suggested I agreed.
"ya he is probably self-conscious about it so just treat him like he is a normal person and don't stare, I guess." We all came to an agreement where at least one of us would stay in here with him so he wouldn't think he had been kidnapped. I drew the short end of the stick.
Hey everyone, the art was drawn by me please don't steal. I Love you all thank you <3
