Lost

It was getting dark and I was thirsty and hungry.
I was lost.
I think I had ran into a new town altogether because I had no idea where I was.
There was no one around.
I had a stitch in my stomach and a beating headache.
I got out my phone and tried to find a signal.
Nothing.
I ran about desperately holding up my phone till it got dark, I went from lost to scared.
I found a shelter outside a sports centre and tried to go to sleep.
Tears were running down my face, forming a puddle on the ground.
I snuggled into my warm cardie and tried to drift off to sleep.
At some point in the night I must've fallen to sleep because I had a horrible nightmare.
I dreamt that those loonies found me and tried to kill me again by this time they succeeded because dad wasn't there to protect me.
I woke up with a start.
I checked my watch, it was 5:30am.
It was quite bright because it was May.
I checked my phone to see if it had magically overnight managed to get a signal.
It hadn't.
I walked about trying to find a signal.
I found some next to a gas station.
I quickly phoned mum.
"Julie," I heard mum gasp.
"M-mum is that you?" I asked stupidly, of course it was her it was her voice.
"Yes, where are you sweetie?"
"I d-don't know. I'm outside em, Doug's Gas Station," I said, turning around and reading the yellow neon sign.
"Okay you're at Readers Road. I'm just coming, hang in there sweetheart."
"Thanks mum. I'm so sorry for running away, I promise I will never do it again."
"I know you won't. It wasn't your fault you were upset."
I waited around twenty minutes then I heard a vroom and I saw my mum's Mini Cooper zooming down the street.
Mum stopped beside me and I hopped in.
Mum looked awful; her makeup from the night before was smudged, her hair was loose and straggly and she had dark circles under her bright, blue eyes.
"Oh my darling Julie, thank goodness you're safe," mum gave me a quick hug, then drove off.
"Let's go home and get something to eat, you must be starving."
