(Thomas' POV)
A few nights ago I went to (y/n)s apartment to check on her and what I saw changed me forever. She was lying on her bed, ice cold, her skin blue, and blood everywhere. She was dead. I screamed and yelled at the top of my lungs after calling the police when I hung up I just held her tightly in my arms. As the ambulance took her I was told to go on with them to the police station and that I should call my parents. I told them everything. Me bullying her, her assault, and her mother leaving her with absolutely nothing. "Seems to me son that you did the best you could for her. I assume you've had a change in behavior and heart then." The sheriff said. I nodded my head slowly. We went out into the hallway where my parents were waiting for me. "some of her relatives are either dead or not apart of her life anymore. Do you know who we can call for funeral arrangements?" A police woman said coming up to us. "Her mother but she's unreachable." I replied. "We have it all covered." My father said placing his hand on my shoulder and smiling sadly.
The day of the funeral I laid in bed feeling angry and distraught. Why did I tell her that she was a mistake? Why did I ever make her feel so horrible about herself? She was such a sweet and beautiful girl that I really only ever love and I treated her like she was just a pile of shit on the side of the road.
I grabbed her phone that I kept in my pocket and unlocked it. I scrolled through her photos looking at a few pictures of sunsets, her mother, and a few plants. There was only one of her and she was smiling. It was her mother and her at a fair about a year ago. That's the first time And only ever see her truly smile. My eyes furrowed at a little side note. Something she was probably going to send to her mother but didn't have the chance. Before I could read it my mother called me down to get ready for the ceremony so I turned it off putting it under the clothes.
A few months after her funeral everything was slowly going back to normal. I continued visiting her grave everyday after school and having a little chat with her. The quart sentenced Kyle to 10 years for the case of (y/n)s adult and another girl he raped. That's not long enough if you ask me. But that was almost a year ago and I hadn't visited her for about 8 months.
I sighed laying on my bed and turning on the TV.That's when somebody was calling on her phone that I kept under my pajamas at the very bottom of my drawer m. I shakily picked it up. Her mother. I answered placing it up to my ear. "(Y/n) hunny! Guess who's coming home sweetheart. Pack your stuff up! I met a man who lives in Florida! He lives in the hugest house you have ever seen-"
"This isn't (y/n) Ms (y/l/n)." I spoke with no emotion in my voice. "Thomas? Where is my daughter?" Tears slipped from my eyes as I swallowed a lump in my throat from not hearing her name for a while. "She's gone. She killed herself." The phone went silent. "When?" She asked. "Almost a year ago." The phone hung up.
7 years later
"Mr Sangster it seems you have a case file in (your town/city)."
"I do? But I thought that was yours to handle."
"It was but it seems I can't make the trip." My co-worker said to me. I looked at the file. It was the same place that I was raised in.
I smiled when I arrived home packing my things and I laid down next to my wife kissing her on her forehead. "You got the case?" She smiled and I nodded my head. "Daddy can you tell us the story of the super girl who changed your life again?" My 8 year old daughter (y/n) asked holding my 5 year old son Johns hand. I smiled sitting her on my lap telling her story's as she fell asleep.
When I arrived at my home and hugged my mum and I went upstairs and smiled at my room. I smiled as my wife came upstairs. Let's go. I said holding her hand.
"Was that her?"
"Yes that's her." I smiled at the engraved picture on the stone.
"She's beautiful."
"Yeah, she was. She would have loved you, you know. She would have loved to see what a wonderful woman I had married with my two almost 3 beautiful children." I smiled. "You mean daddy the super girl was real?"
"She was." She smiled and pointed at the stone "look daddy she has my name." I laughter and nodded hugging her. "Alright let's go see grandma. She's making cookies." They all shouted yay and I stayed there telling them that I'll catch up with them later.
"Those were my kids. The oldest who you just saw is 8 I named her after you. I thought I at least owe you that much. That little one there was John and we haven't decided on our soon to be newborns name. I'm a lawyer now working with children who need help and are in dangerous situations. I talk all about you to my children and wife. Nothing about the terrible stuff but about how you changed me, they call you a superhero. Well that's about it. Thanks. For everything. I kissed the stone with my hand and left.
That night while my wife was out with the kids and my mum I started putting a few things in my drawers I saw an old phone. I furrowed my eyebrows and clicked it on and immediately saw her. Smiling. I furrowed my eyebrows when I saw the window with a message on it open. I clicked on it and began listening.
Hey mom.
My heart stopped as I listened to her voice.
Just calling to let you know I'm fine and to let you know I'm not home so don't call the home phone. I'm staying with the Sangster's. Thomas has been really great. I love him mom. I really love a guy and he's helping me with everything so you don't have to worry. I understand you're probably busy so just call me back when you're able to. I miss you and live you. Bye.
A few tears streamed down my face as I looked outside at the family graveyard looking at her resting place. "I love you too." I whispered back ending the message and pulling the phone away from my ear.
