"What do I do?" Zayn asked Louis quietly. He was nervous and when Zayn was nervous he bit down on his bottom lip and he picked at the cuticles on his hand and his heart started to pound.
Lately, Zayn had been feeling this way a lot. He could blame himself for this of course, but deep down he knew that there was only one to blame. And that one's name just happened to be Sky.
Because when it came to Sky, Zayn was an absolute mess. He suddenly found himself questioning his actions a lot more than he usually would; he seemed so frantic with the thought of her on his mind. And it was weird because they hadn't known each for that long, but the impact Sky was making on Zayn's life was huge. It was like a comet entering earth's surface at full speed and crashing down into land without a care. But Zayn was happy, this was the happiest he'd ever been.
And even though he thought too much around her, he didn't have to think because everything was just so easy between the two of them. So easy, so effortless-it all came natural with them.
Zayn guesses this is why he's so fucking clueless. Because Sky changes his mindset about things. She takes them and shakes them and flips them upside down and makes Zayn's world all about her to where she's the only thing he sees, the only thing he hears, the only thing he thinks about. But it's not necessarily a bad thing, no. It just makes Zayn realize how deep he really is for her.
Maybe he's crazy, he's so sure he is, but he'd pick being crazy over anything as long as it included his beloved Sky.
Wow, he was screwed.
"What do you mean 'what do I do'?" Louis asked, bewildered. "Here's what you do, pretty boy: you go find her and you tell her like it is. You let her know what's going on in that thick skull of yours and you tell her to be your girlfriend. That's what you do."
Zayn frowned because as much as he knew Louis was trying to help, he really was, this just wasn't the way to go about it. He knew that for a fact.
"I don't think that's right," Zayn pouted, shaking his head to himself. Maybe he shouldn't listen to Louis at all. It'd probably be best if he hadn't, honestly. It's for his own good.
"Aw, c'mon. That was a brilliant plan!"
"Yeah, in your head it was."
"Fine, but I don't see you coming up with anything else."
Zayn couldn't exactly say anything after that because unfortunately Louis was right. He'd never admit that out loud, though. Louis would never let it go, therefore Zayn would never hear the end of it. So Zayn was left to pout some more. Sometimes it wasn't completely odd if Zayn found himself questioning their friendship at all.
"That's what I thought," Louis muttered seeming all too proud of himself. What a git, Zayn thought to himself.
***
Since Zayn wasn't going to follow Louis' instructions-because, honestly, how stupid were they?-he was going to do this all on his own. The thing was, he didn't know exactly what that was going to be at all. Zayn always seemed to be stumped when it came to situations like this, but mostly it was because of the girl who was involved.
And ever since that day, the day they kissed, Zayn couldn't stop thinking about it. He couldn't stop thinking about how it felt to finally be connected with Sky in another way, and maybe that's why he was a bit mad. Because Sky's lips were like poison and Zayn kept coming for more. Sky was a drug and Zayn wanted to smoke her all day until his lungs hurt from coughing so much and his lips burned from the heat of the lighter. All Zayn could think, though, was what happens next?
