= MATT'S POINT OF VIEW =

- It doesn't take all that, Dad! I don't need security! - I say for the thousandth time.

- But he's really ungrateful! - Nora, my stepmother, says.

- Nora, please! - My father massages his temples. - Matt, this is not an issue. You will have security guards, even if there is at least one in each period.

- But...

- You know I just want your safety, son! - looks at me and I sigh.

I go into my old room and throw myself on the bed. I cannot deny that I live in constant danger, after all my father is a delegate.

Two days ago, my dad picked me up from college and saved me from a robbery. Since then, he has insisted on seeing me surrounded by strange and grumpy people.

Becca, my paternal sister, lives surrounded by security guards. Yes, she loves to attract attention! And the worst side of it all is that they think I'm like her, futile, pampered and empty. But I'm not like that, people just don't know me well enough.

My mom died when I was 5 and guess what, my dad, Don Shade, cheated on my mom Mathilda Carlson-Shade with Nora. Both were married. Of course, betrayal is wrong, but it did not diminish my desire to meet my mother.

Since his death, I came to live with my father, who did not deny me. He loved me like a real father, much to Becca and Nora's unhappiness.

As far as I know, my mom didn't know my dad cheated on her. Aunt Rose's words. So, my father had a great deal of guilt.

This is always a cause for humiliation and undoing. They hate me and make my life hell.

I fix my hair and go down the stairs. Nora and Becca, who used to laugh at something, are silent at the same moment they see me coming down.

- Always spoils pleasures! - Becca grumbles, looking at two long nails painted red.

I don't listen and I'm going to say goodbye to my father.

- I already hired! - Hug me. - You know it's for your own good, don't you?

- I know, Dad!

- They'll pick you up from college tomorrow. - I nod.

**********

I arrive at my apartment and throw myself on the couch.

There was nothing very interesting in my routine. Well, so would other people say. I prefer a good book and a movie to occupy my time. I really preferred to exchange a party night for a series marathon.

I take a deep breath and reach for my cell phone, dialing Melanie's number, my girlfriend.

- Hello? - She says in a sleepy voice.

- Hi, did I wake you up?

- No, no. How are you?

- Well, just a little tired. The college is demanding a lot from me. - I mumble, letting out a laugh. - Is that you?

- Well, I'm great! - I laughed softly.

- Yeah, um, baby, I'm going to hang up. If I can, I'll stop by your apartment, okay? - Sigh.

- All right.

- You won't be upset, will you, cat?

- Of course not! - I let out a weak laugh.

- Well, see you later. I love you.

- Uhum, see you! - hang up the call.

I sigh and throw the phone beside me.

**********
- At last you arrived! - Zoe mumbles making me laugh.

- Don't even come! I'm not that late! - She rolls her eyes.

- And your new security? - Asks as we walk towards the room.

- He will come for me today! - I mumble. - I couldn't convince my father to give up on that idea.

- Is he one of those big, muscular guys with a bad face? What if she is a hot woman? - She smiles maliciously. - Well, you could introduce him to me, right? And if it's a woman, you could take a cone...

- Stop it, Zoe! - River. - You know I have Melanie.

She rolls her eyes.

- You know I hate that asshole of your girlfriend, don't you?

- Do not start! - I mean, sitting on one of the chairs.

She snorts and the teacher starts the class.

Zoe definitely hates Melanie.

Zoe was my only friend. Not that I was not a sociable person, people just avoided me. And, well, I knew one reason.

Becca, as already said, was just an empty girl. And one of its main functions was to make my life hell. That's why I kept spreading rumors about me.

One of those rumors that she already made up was that I had sex with most of the girls in her classroom. People started to look at me in a different way, not to mention that unusual invitations came from some girls for a while. Well, I didn't really care what she said about me. People might not know me, but I did. It was enough.

The end of the class came quickly. I was still so irritated by the fact that I was going to be

accompanied by security guards.

- If your safety is a piece of bad road, Matt, please grab it. If not, introduce me! - Zoe winks at me and I give her the middle finger. - These demonstrations of your love really move me. - Put your hand on your chest.

- Bye, Zoe! - I laugh and she kisses me in the air. I walk slowly to the university gates and take a deep breath looking around.

How am I supposed to know who my asshole security is, sir?

- Matthew Shade? - I sigh hearing a female voice behind me.

I turn to face her and roll her eyes slightly.

I swallow.

She had slightly tanned skin and dark hair. His eyes were brown and his fleshy mouth was notable. Not to mention his imposing and serious stance.

- It's me.

She smiles, seeming to sense my nervousness.

You can't deny how beautiful a woman was.

- I'm your new security!
