Breakfast is a quiet affair. Loving glances and secret smiles shared across a hot mug of tea each. The sun had barely risen and the both of you had had so little sleep, but the both of you were happy.

Sirius would leave later on in the morning, wanting to get back to London so he could prepare for whatever mission he was being sent on the very same night. You would leave the following day after closing up the house.

The butterflies in your stomach had not stopped since yesterday; since Sirius confessed his feelings for you.

The silence in the kitchen is broken by Sirius: "Should we talk about last night?"

You place your mug down onto the table, "I think we probably should."

His eyebrows furrow, there is something on his mind, something that he wants to ask you but he doesn't quite know how to phrase it.

"I was being completely honest earlier," He starts, "when I told you that I want a whole life together. Me, you, and most likely Harry through the holidays."

You hum, "I remember. I know."

He sighs, "I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't want to be a rebound for you. I don't want last night to be our only night."

If your mug of tea was still in your hand, you would have dropped it.

"What do you mean?"

"You were in love with Remus for so long. I don't want to be a rebound for him now that he's getting married. Last night meant everything to me, I really do not want this to be a one time thing."

You are across the table and at his side in a moment. Grabbing his hand, you urge him to look you in the eye: "You're right. I was in love with him for so long, but it is in the past now. I will always have feelings for Remus in terms of friendship but I'd like to think my heart belongs to someone else now. Last night meant a lot to me as well, and it definitely was not a one time thing. You mean so much to me. I don't think I can apologise enough to you, Sirius - for taking so long, for never seeing your feelings until you had to shout them at me."

"You don't need to apologise to me, love."

"Yes, I do though. The last thing you are to me is a rebound. I feel the fool really for never seeing that you were right there. This morning, in bed, when you told me you see a life for us and that you want it. I want it too. I want it all. And I want it with you. If you'll have me that is."

"I'll have you."

You press a kiss to his lips, throwing all of your emotions into it. Trying to tell Sirius now that it is him, and it will always be him. Hearts can change, and your heart had chosen him. He kisses you back with just as much emotion, but also with relief. He had been so insecure when he woke up; the last thing he wants to be for you is a rebound, not when he has been in love with you since he was a teenager. He knows that there are some feelings you have for him, and after last night, he definitely knows that they are not platonic, but god, all he wants to be is the man you whisper 'good morning' and 'good night' too.

"How about this," you propose, pulling away from Sirius, "we go out on a date?"

Sirius smiles, brushing a finger over your cheek, "You're asking me out now?"

You smile back at him, pressing a kiss to his hand that you still hold, "I am. Let's do it this way: we go out on a date, and we'll talk and have fun. Let's start this relationship off right. So - Sirius Black, will you go to dinner with me?"

Sirius presses a kiss to your cheek, relishing in the blush that quickly follows. "I like the sound of that. Let's go to dinner."
