Hold Me // S.B.

The night had been long, and he felt the weariness settling deep within his bones, becoming one with his being. Sirius blinked heavily as he placed his right foot on the first of the many stairs leading to you.

A yawn leaves him as he places his hand on the bannister, hauling himself up the stairs because every step was another step closer to you. Sirius pauses on the landing, letting himself sway with the exhaustion turning his limbs to wood. He shakes himself free before continuing on to your room.

He cannot help the tired smile that crosses his face at the sight of you already tucked up in bed. The pillows so artfully arranged that he knows the moment his head touches one of them he would be out for the count. You haven't noticed him yet, nose stuck in the book you read before falling asleep.

"Well hi there," You greet, smiling widely at the man you love. You tuck your bookmark in your book, placing it on the bedside table so there would be no mistaking that your attention wasn't solely on Sirius.

Sirius doesn't reply. He lets out a long sigh before kicking off his boots. Without even undressing, he drops onto the bed face first, covering himself with the quilt and finding you in the plumes of materlal.

With little strength and resolve, you let Sirius lay half on top of you and half on top of the mattress. "Long night?" You murmur, your hand automatically winding into his long hair, scratching at his scalp.

He lets out a satisfied hum before answering. "The longest."

"How can I help?"

"Hold me," Sirius whispers, tightening his own hold on you. "Tell me about your day."

"I can do both of those." You smile.

You regale Sirius of your day, well aware that the man you love so dearly has drifted off to sleep, his face tucked away in your chest. His snores start soon after his breathing slows, and you cannot find it in you to wake him up. The exhaustion on his face was so evident; the least you could do was hold him.
