After you had gotten on the bus, Beck had to let you know that he and his band were practicing today, so Tottie couldn't stay at his house. You sighed and shook you head. "I'll take him then." you said reluctantly. Tottie grinned mischievously and you died inside. You'd been thinking about why Tottie's boyfriend comment hadn't bothered you all that much, and you were concerned for yourself. There were two likely possibilities, and neither you liked very much. The first option being that you were utterly disconnected form your feelings, in which case you'd probably have to do therapy and maybe be on meds. Something you'd do anything to get out of. The second option, however, was far more terrifying. It being, that you didn't mind because maybe you'd LIKE to be his girlfriend.
"Y/n? Y/n?? You there?" Kelly asked. You snapped out of your thoughts and noticed that the bus passed your stop. You sighed and shook your head. You needed to buy groceries anyway, right?
You chatted with Beck, Kelly and Tottie until you got to the stop closest to the store. It was a cute building complex that went on four a couple of blocks. You grabbed Tottie's hand and walked off the bus after saying your goodbye's to everyone.
As you walked through the aisles of the store, Tottie kept on looking intently at all of the odd items on the shelf. He pointed at (your favorite food) and asked what it was. You smiled and carefully explained it to him.
"You know what, let's get it. I'm sure you'll love it."
He smiled and some pink crept up on to his cheeks. "Thanks" he whispered softly. He brought his face close into yours and whispered into your ear. "I'm sure it'll be delicious." It was now your turn to have the pink on your cheeks. But this point it wasn't even pink. It was a bright red blush, and you were pretty sure Tottie knew it. "You're flustered, aren't you?" He whispered again in a low voice. You had no response, and your heart was racing. You fumbled on your words. It didn't even matter if your response was smart or quick witted. You just needed one. "That's what I thought." He whispered for the last time oh so close to your ear. He smelled like it did after it rained. Fresh and clean, with just a hint of smoke.
He quickly turned away and looked at another item on the shelf and put it back down, not bothering to even study it. He then picked up a pair of reading glasses on one of the end caps. He put them on his eyes. You stared into them. His bright green eyes shone so brightly. He was so excited, and you thought he was adorable. You let out a small laugh and took a photo.
"Heyy, not fair. Now I need one of you." he protested. You gave in and put another pair on. You handed him your phone and let his take one of you. You stuck your hand out but Tottie pulled a fast one and took a selfie. You were both laughing now. You looked at the photo and looked at how ridiculous you both looked.
"Do you want me to send this to you?" you asked. Tottie looked at you for a minute and you realized that he didn't have a phone. You'd have to fix that.
"I'm pretty sure you can't do that if I don't have a phone y/n." Tottie replied. You melted. You loved how his name rolled off his tongue like that. His voice was deep and velvety, but gentle at the same time. You snapped out of your thoughts and grabbed his hand.
Timeskip
About an hour and a half later you had gotten all of the groceries and Tottie's now phone. You had paid for it with your mom's credit card for necessities. She'd probably comment it when she was paying bills, but you'd come up with an excuse for it later. You sent Tottie the photos of you two from earlier.
"Thanks for the phone y/n!, I can't wait to take more photos of us together!" Tottie chirped. You blushed, but he couldn't see you since it was so dark out. It was 7:30 and it was almost pitch black. "So what's the deal with you and Beck?" Tottie asked. You smiled a little.
"Oh, he and I have been friends since I was little. He's like a brother." You responded. You couldn't see it, but Tottie's eyes lit up.
"What about you and Kelly?"
"Oh, she and I have known each other since 4th grade. She and I were in the same field trip group with a bunch of highlighter kids, so we became pretty good friends, and the rest is history."
"Sounds like you have good friends." You smiled again. Yeah, I really do. You thought to yourself.
You and Tottie walked in silence for a few more minutes. It wasn't a busy traffic time so you walked in the middle of the winding streets.
Suddenly Tottie grabbed your hand and swing you out of the way. You fell down and he fell on top of you. A car sped by through the street. It would've hit you if Tottie hadn't flung you onto the ground, but that wasn't what was on your mind at the moment. What was, was the fact that Tottie was on top of you. His curly hair tickled your forehead and nose, making you blush even more.
Tottie scrambled off of you and helped you pick up all of the groceries. The apples were probably bruised, but it would be fine. You'd probably just use them for something else. Tottie stuck out his hand and you grabbed it and used it to help you stand up. You were going to let go, but his hand stayed firm.
Although you couldn't see each other, you were both blushing shamelessly, but you'd never admit that to yourself, and neither would he. At least, for a while you wouldn't.
