She fled. It was all the new queen could do. The signal had corrupted every tribe other than hers. Even the Nightwings, who were under her rule became corrupted, and horribly disfigured. She shook her head violently, clutching her egg closer to her chest as she flew. She could hear her guards on either side of her, and the distant screams and fearful cries of her subjects behind them. She didn't dare look back, instead attempted to hide her egg even more so. It made no sense to her, the egg was much larger than the dragonet inside. She was about to shake it off again when immense heat hit her side, her scales turned white, the color of pain, fully revealing her.

She attempted to get away, as her guards were slaughtered, but the pain from the fire that hit her side was immense, she'd have to land. Swiftly she glided into the forest below her. Once she landed she looked up to watch in horror as the last of her guards were killed. Her head snapped to the wound at her side, it was bad, and if she survived, she'd never fly right again. Again her head snapped up, the deformed skywings looked around wildly. 'For me' she realized in horror. As quietly and as carefully as she possibly could, she fled through the forest. The wing beats above ever present.

Tears threatened to spill, as she soon realized how unlikely it was for her to ever meet her dragonet. With a heavy heart, and the drive to protect her unhatched dragonet, she hid her egg in the brush. What would she have named her dragonet? She kind of wished to leave something with the egg. With tears spilling down her face as the faces of her six guards flashed in her mind.

That's when it clicked. Hastily grabbing a blueberry, covering one of her claws in it's purple juice, and grabbing a nearby leaf she scribbled the number, and word six onto it. She knew that the dragonet when it hatched, whether it be male or female, wouldn't know what it meant. But somehow, some way the queen hoped they did. She slipped the leaf under a rock, and carefully placed the egg by it.

She touched the egg with her snout, and held it still with her claws. She cried, quietly whispering to the egg "Stay safe, don't die, oh by the moons don't die. Please don't die," over and over again. Oh how she wished she could stay with it. Slowly, she got up and ran. It hurt her soul to know that the fate of her egg was unknown to her, that even if nothing harmed the egg the dragonet could still die. But this was the best bet, for the both of them, deep down she knew that her dragonet would live. No matter what the world throws at them. They had to live. With that, the queen ran.
