Two days passed quickly.
The pack was going to meet the Cullens in the forest, in their territory, to be taught how to kill the vampires that were coming. Most of the pack were abhorrent about the idea. They claimed that they already knew how to kill a vampire and didn't need their help.
Mia begged to differ. Excluding the Cullens, the only dangerous vampire she came across was the red-head and there wasn't much of a fight when it came to it. She wanted to believe the others when they said her wolf would know what to do but in her mind, it was too much to count on.
What's worse was that the rest of the pack seemed kind of excited about it. Sure, they were worried about the vampires and what they could cause but they weren't afraid like Mia.
They were excited for the same reason she was afraid. They wanted the fight, wanted to kill them. She felt like the odd one out.
As much as they were evil or bad on top of being vampires, the idea of a fight and violently killing, essentially ending someone's existence wasn't something Mia could just accept internally just like that.
Maybe it was because that she hadn't really come face to face with the dangers of a real vampire or that the pack had already established by the time she shifted, but she didn't share the same sentiment and thoughts as the rest of the pack.
She hadn't been in a real fight yet too, well the only one she was in was probably the time Jack jumped Mike in the school parking lot and she got hit once, but it still didn't really count since Tommy had protected her during it. She didn't know how to fight, not properly.
So, she really was looking forward to what the Cullens would tell or teach them. They were the same species, after all, they must know something. The pack, or the tribe, had only come across a few vampires, and although they knew how to take care of them Mia didn't think they knew as much as the Cullens.
Bella had said that Doctor Cullen was the oldest among them and was very knowledgeable. On top of that, again, it was their own species. Mia knew the strengths and the weaknesses of the wolves so why wouldn't they go to the Cullens for tips? It only made sense.
Since the meeting point was going to be close to Forks, Mia didn't bother with going all the way to La Push. She shifted to her wolf and met the pack halfway inside the woods. Sam knew the location of the meet-up and he was leading them.
After meeting the pack she found herself immediately beside Paul. Or perhaps he was the one who got closer to her. She didn't know which, it could have been both of them as well. She didn't question these things much anymore.
Mia's thoughts were off because she didn't want the others to learn of her fear about the whole thing. She was afraid and she didn't want it to be seen as a weakness among them.
They slowed down and Mia could smell the vampires. Paul whimpered next to her. She turned to him. He was looking like he was saying something but since Mia had turned the thoughts off, she wasn't hearing. He was probably trying to say to open it up. She shook her head.
Sam growled lowly and moved his head. They slowly and defensively walked down the little hill where the Cullens were standing. All of them were here. So was Bella. The vampires all turned toward them.
"They don't trust us enough to be in their human forms," Edward said.
Mia couldn't hear the others' thoughts but she was sure either Quil or Jared made a snide comment about that.
"They came, that's what matters," Doctor Cullen replied. One of the wolves whimpered.
Doctor Cullen tilted his head slightly to Edward. "Will you translate?" He then turned to the wolves.
