As mentioned in "ZA BRICKGADE, overview", the Erf-dwelling magicy fantasy fellows dislike the Erf-dwelling mathy sci-fi fellows. Now, when people dislike each other and fantasy and/or sci-fi is involved, this automatically translates into "messy dystopia".
Theoretically, Protagonist-Kun, the protagonist, should jump out and unite everyone under the power of friendship. Theoretically, he should have done that by now, but Mr. Protagonist is far, far too busy doing other more important things such as getting more people for his harem or working through difficult angst such as "my dad made me eat my veggies" and "my girlfriend said she doesn't like pizza".
Meanwhile, the Brickgade strives to unite magic fellows and mathy fellows under one group: the bricky fellows. With the powers of (weak) magic and (lame) math combined, they will knock some sense into Protagonist-Kun and remind him of the main plot. And also maybe conquer the world in the process.
Protagonist-Kun is the Brickgade's punching bag; the Brickgade is Protagonist-Kun's filler arc villain group whose only apparent purpose is character development. It's a win-win.
