It had been a few weeks since Thor and Leila traveled to Asgard. Leila had been studying magic and practicing her skills every day.Although it was an alien planet, Asgard was quite similar to Earth. The sun— if that's what it was— rose and set at about the same time, and Leila had settled in well.
She'd been having her meals with the royal family. Frigga was incredibly kind to her, in lessons and outside of them.
Odin was quite standoffish and cold to her, but half of the time he wasn't at dinner and she never went to the main hall otherwise.
Leila had begun spending much of her free time with Thor, either reading or training or just talking. She had heard all about the many battles he'd been in, the adventures he had been on.
Thor had explained Loki's long and complicated story. He had brought her down to the dungeons to speak with Loki, and she found that she quite liked him. He was very smart, and quite charming. Leila had taken to visiting him with Thor. She would bring books down and read to the brothers for hours.
Leila truly didn't think she could be any good with a sword, but after weeks of training she could hold her own against a practice dummy. She had also learned how to fight with a spear and how to incorporate her magic into combat.
In the past few days she'd even begun sparring with the warriors three, Sif, and Thor. She just hoped her skills with a gun didn't deteriorate.

The woman and Asgardian prince gained more than a few stares as they walked together through the streets of the city. Leila was sure, it was in no small part to the way they didn't walk even a foot apart.
They passed shops, taverns, merchant's booths, and houses, all constructed with beautiful Nordic architecture.
"Siggi holds weekly flytings here," Thor gestured to a tavern.
"Flytings?" Leila tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "What are those?"
"A flyting is a word battle, or exchange of insults." He chuckled, "Loki is the best at them."
Leila smiled. "I still know nothing about this place, do I?"
"Yes, but you're smart. You will learn." Thor walked to the door. "Would you like to go in?"
The two were greeted by cheers, some directed at them and others directed at the musicians in the corner. It was warm inside, a fireplace in the stone wall. A wooden dance floor was surrounded by tables, one side occupied by the bar. There were a good amount of people milling about, but it wasn't terribly crowded.
Thor lead Leila to the bar, gesturing to the bartender to get them drinks. "Siggi's beer is my favorite."
"It just so happens I love beer. Let's hope Siggi doesn't let me down" she grinned.
The bartender set two pints of beer down in front of them, and Thor picked his up immediately. With a glance, Leila did the same and took a sip. It was good beer, warmth blooming in her stomach and her face as she drank.
"How are you liking Asgard, Leila?" Thor asked, setting his glass down.
"It's so beautiful here. I'm learning so much, and everyone is very welcoming."
"I've done my best to make sure of that. I hope you don't ever meet those that aren't so welcoming."
"Me as well." Leila took another draught of beer.
After he'd had three glasses of beer and her two, Thor glanced at the dance floor, then back to Leila. Immediately she blushed and shook her head. "Ohh no. I don't dance. I'm terrible"
"I'm sure you aren't terrible!" Thor laughed. "Come on, it will be fun." He held his hand out. After a few moments of reluctance Leila intertwined her fingers with his, heat spreading on her face at the feeling of her holding his hand, so much bigger than hers.
"Fine. You have to show me the moves, though." She rolled her eyes, a smile on her lips.
"Of course." He led her to the dance floor, still holding onto her hand, and began a series of simple movements while guiding her.
Leila picked it up quickly, soon laughing and dancing along. The song ended, and another started. At one point, she accidentally stepped on Thor's foot. "I'm so sorry! Oh my god, are you okay?"
Thor just laughed, touching her arm gently. "I am fine, Leila." His blue eyes met hers, and he smiled softly as her heart fluttered.
The music turned into a slow waltz, the people around them partnering up and growing closer.
She cleared her throat. "I'm—uh, gonna get some fresh air." He nodded, his face falling slightly and eyes showing a hint of sadness. Leila pushed down her guilt as she wove through the crowd of people to go outside into the cool night.
The woman paced on the cobblestones, running her hands through her dark hair, squeezing tears out of her eyes. She felt like a schoolgirl. Damn it, she thought. How could you be so stupid? He doesn't want to be with you.
She cursed her stupid brain, her stupid heart, for beginning to fall for the future king of Asgard. He just saw her as a friend. Didn't he?
Leila took a deep breath, attempting to calm herself down. It was late, she was tired, she'd had a little alcohol.
The door creaked open, and Thor walked out. "Leila, are you alright?" She could hear the concern in his deep voice. She cursed herself again.
"Yes, I'm fine, I'm just... tired, and it was stuffy in there, and..." she trailed off.
"I will walk you home. We're going to the same place, after all," he paused, "if that's alright with you? I could have a guard—"
"No, no, that would be great. Thank you, Thor."
They trekked back to the palace in an uncomfortable silence, the closeness they shared coming down now replaced by distance and awkwardness.
Thor walked her back to her room, stopping outside of the door. "Thank you for tonight, Leila. I enjoyed showing you around."
"I enjoyed it as well."
"Goodnight, Leila." He dipped his head, and turned to walk back down the hallway, but was stopped by Leila's hand on his arm. "Wait— Thor, I'm sorry."
"What for?"
"I just—" Leila sighed, "I kind of ran off there, and I know you were worried. I know it's stupid but I was just scared that you——"
Her words were cut off by Thor gently pressing his lips to hers. He drew back after a few moments, looking down at Leila, whose eyes were wide.
"Scared?" He asked.
"Not anymore." Leila kissed him again, his lips soft and firm against hers. His hands rested on her waist, while one of hers cupped his face and the other wrapped around his neck, fingers curling in his blonde hair.
He pulled away slightly, resting his forehead on hers. "Goodnight, Leila," he said softly, then kissed her on the forehead.
"Goodnight, Thor."
Leila opened the door to her room, closing the door as she leaned against it, grinning. That fluttering in her heart and in her stomach was still there. Something told her it wasn't going away anytime soon, at least while she was around Thor.

A/N: me writing this chapter- NOW KISS
Also I'm kind of hitting the high points of Leila and Thor's time in Asgard, I'm terrible at filler content so I'm hoping to keep a balance for these au chapters.
Thanks for reading!!
