Harry's pov ϟ
"Why do they have to travel in... packs?" Ron asked me as we made our way through the courtyard. "How do you get one on their own to ask them?"
I shrugged as we passed by a group of Ravenclaw girls. Ron and I stopped in front of them as they looked at us with disgust. Cho was in that group, expectantly smiling at me for some odd reason. Ron sheepishly grinned as I pulled him away, the girls giggling.
"Blimey, Harry. You've slayed dragons! If you can't get a date, who can?"
"I think I'll take the dragon right now," I grimaced as I thought about how Louis asked her to dance with him last week.
"She wouldn't go with that slimy git to the ball right?" I thought as Ron and I pushed open the door to the study hall.
I glanced inside to see Hermione and Y/N sitting together, deep in conversation. We made our way quickly inside, Ron and I sitting in the seats opposite of them, pulling out our textbook and journals. The head teacher for today's study hall was Professor Snape, who looked particularly repulsed as we entered.
"Harry! Ron!" Y/N whispered happily when she noticed we came in. "Professor Snape is making us turn in an essay about antidotes in our journals before we can leave."
"Oh great! First, no date and now this!" Ron exclaimed loudly. The entire hall turned to look at him, Professor Snape narrowing his eyes.
"Sorry," Ron whispered as everyone turned back to their studies.
"Y/N, have you gotten a date to the ball yet?" Ron asked. I pretended to be uninterested as I started to scribble in my notebook. "Please say no. Please say no." I thought as she opened her mouth.
"Uh, no," she replied hastily. My heart leaped into the air as I looked up at her.
"Y/N's turned down loads of guys!" Hermione raised her eyebrows at me specifically. "Quite cute ones too."
"Hermione," Y/N whispered through her teeth before jabbing her elbow into Hermione's side. "Shut it."
"This is mad! At this rate, we'll be the only ones here without dates," Ron said harshly, looking over his shoulder at the other fourth years studying. Snape walked up behind Ron and slapped him over the head with his notebook.
I hid my snicker as Ron squirmed in his seat, grabbing his head.
"Well, us and Neville," Ron whispered to me.
"But then again he can take himself," I joked as we laughed. I quickly shut up as Y/N glared at me.
"It might interest you to know that Neville's already got someone," she said, narrowing her eyes. "I wouldn't make fun of him if I were you. You two don't even have anyone to go with." I shrunk at her death stare, mentally telling myself to think before I speak.
Ron gasped as he turned to look at Y/N. "Now I'm really depressed."
I looked to my right to see Fred throw Ron a note. He unwrapped it and whispered the message, "Get a move on or all the good ones will be gone!!!" I peered over Ron's shoulder to see the large letters inked into the paper.
Ron looked up at Fred before throwing the paper back at him.
"Who are you going with then?" he whispered. Fred motioned at us to watch as he threw a crumpled piece of paper at Angelina.
I watched as she turned around, glaring at Fred. "What?" she mouthed.
"Do you," Fred pointed at her while whispering, "want to go to the ball with me?" He asked as he pretended to dance in the air. Angelina smiled widely before nodding happily.
