Skylor's pov

Rumi: Hey we're going to the mall with Sami l8r if you wanna join 😘

I stared at my phone before replying back.

Me: sure! Don't think I have a choice tho ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Rumi: oop right...welp see you in 30! <3

I set my phone aside and let out an exasperated sigh. Sami was the 'leader' of our group and the most popular girl at the school. She had probably a gazillion ex's and bffs. She's always forcing us to go to parties with her and it's fine I guess, it's just the fact that she leaves us each time to go make out with a cute new guy.

Last year there was a poor victim of her. I think his name was Kai or something, and she forced him in a room for something like 5 hours. She's a little messed up sometimes but she's fun.

I guess.

"Skylor! Time for dinner sweetheart!" Called my father from downstairs. I sighed and made my way down the 5 different flights of stairs to our all too big dining room. The chandelier was made of pure crystal and the chairs were encrusted in gold dust. I really am a spoiled one but I don't act like it.

I always dreamed of the future where my husband would drive me to a simple family home and we would have 3 kids and a dog.
I would be on the couch with a book, hearing their laughter and watching as they enjoy life.
They could hop on the shoulders of their future daddy and I could be dancing in the moonlight with him after our children are put to bed.
They could run to our room when the thunder spooked them or they could laugh at the faces their daddy would make. Play dress up with me and throw a ball with their dad.

That's my only dream for the future. I wouldn't even care if we would live in an apartment, I just want a family.

As I sat at the dining table, Dad rushed in and sat in the chair across from me. He looked like he was in a hurry to finish and acted like it too.
"Er, Dad?" I ask and he pauses. "Yes Skylor?"
"Sami was taking the group to the mall and..."
"Sure."
"Huh?"
"Sure, you can go."
I stared at my father in disbelief. "O-okay, can I go get ready?"

He nodded and I took that as my ticket to run upstairs. I grabbed my diamond encrusted side purse and threw my phone and wallet inside. (Some gum in case I need it.) I changed into a long sleeved black crop top, shorts that most would consider too short but I was on the cheer team so it was pretty normal for me. (Although they were the kind that were like spandex) I put on my 1 inch black glitter heels and tied my blazing red hair into a high ponytail.

After touching myself up with enough makeup that Sami would consider approving, I ran downstairs and texted Harumi.

Me: hey girl I need a ride...do you mind? ❤️

I waited a couple of minutes til she responded.

Rumi: of course! My Mother insists that I come in a royal carriage tho 🤮🤮😜

I giggled briefly and replied.

Me: Lol! XD I'll wait on my porch then! <3

I sighed and giggled to myself. Harumi was in the royal Jade family so being a princess meant having to wear elegant dresses and having a guard escort you everywhere. Harumi and I were alike when it came to this stuff. We both insisted to be independent when our parents said otherwise.

I squinted my eyes to see Harumi arriving in her carriage. It was shimmering in gold and had silk white patterns on the sides. Although it was a bit much, it was still beautiful. Harumi was sitting on the left side while slumping with a look of absolute boredom. I giggled knowing that it was all the attention the carriage drew.
