I got in the car and slammed my head against the steering wheel. How could I be that stupid all up in that man business, like we just didn't meet. He's probably not gonna talk to me for awhile now. Well no need to sit here and be a bummer, time to go drive around. I pull out my granny driveway and ride into town.

Growing up here I was a introvert, I only had two friends in high school and was very shut off towards the world. It wasn't until I moved to New York that I came out of my shell. I'm glad I made the decision to move, there's nothing really going on in Warren. When I was child all I wanted to was bake and cook, of course I learned from the best, My granny. From measuring to using the right seasonings, she taught me everything. I had always said that I was gonna own my own bakery or restaurant one day. So when I got into sixth grade I started to save my allowance and it was finally time for me to get into high school. Soon as I turned sixteen I got a job at our little local restaurant. I saved all of my checks and put them up when it was time to succeed my dream.

I pulled into the local dinner, I just had a taste for Mrs. Sandy's milkshakes. Before I walked in I already knew it was gone be full, just like it was before I left, I'm surprised their was any seats left. I sat at the front and rang the bell.
"Hello how may I help you-"
"Liyah?" Mrs. Sandy said.
"Yep it's me" I said smiling. She ran out from the other side and gave me a big hug. "Oh my god, I've missed you so much" she said as she was squeezing me hard"
"Mrs. Sandy I missed you to but I can't breathe" I laughed
"I'm sorry honey, I just haven't seen you in awhile"
"I know, this is kinda like my little get away from work. So tell me about what's been going on around here"
"Oh not that much has happened, we had some new people move down here and somebody is trying to buy me out"
"I heard about the new people but what do you mean someone is trying to buy you out"
"This old man Mr. Wordsworth, is tryna buy people's building down here, just to break them down. He's trying to buy people's house and land to. I guess he trying to build is own company down here."
Well that's shocking, ever since I was born, no one wanted to even look at Warren.
"That's crazy, I wonder what type of company he's trying to build"
"I don't know and I don't care, ever since my husband left this world, this dinner is my only source of income and it's been in my family way to long just for me to throw it away for a couple of dollars." She said putting her hand on her hips.
This is why I love Mrs. Sandy. Most people would just take the money and leave, but that money can only last so long. Her dinner has been passed down many generations. So I don't blame her, I would rather keep something that I could remember my family by.
"Okay darling, enough about me and my troubles, tell me more about you. How's that little boyfriend of yours"
Oh Edward, another person I met when I first moved to New York. He was amazing. We did everything together. Went everywhere together. About seven months into the relationship everything was going down hill. When I wanted to stay in and watch movies, he wanted to go out hang with his little so called friends, who in my opinion where all bums. Their literally they type of people to be buying thousand dollars shoes but still be living at they mamma house. One week I went to a baking convention, and of course I had to ask my dear best friend cause that so called boyfriend of mines said that 'wasn't his thing' even though he would eat every dessert I would make, but I came back a day early from the convention, and of course I walked in on something no one in the world want to see. He was laying up in my bed with some thot. The crazy part is I wasn't even that mad at him for cheating on me, I knew we weren't going to last that long, but what made me mad is who he cheated on me with. It was his ex, someone he told me not worry about a long time ago, and I mean if you gone cheat on me, cheat on me with somebody who teeth not the color of the sun, hehe.
"Oh Mrs. Sandy we been broken up, I'm on to better things"
"I know that's right" Mrs. sandy snapped and put her hand on her hip, while I was laughing.
I heard the bell ring on the door, and turned around and saw someone I was hoping not to see, Michael.
"Helloo Michael, came to pick up your daily meal"
"Yes ma'am" as he looked over at me and smiled.
"Well Mrs. Sandy it was nice seeing you I-" I said as I was getting up to leave.
"Oh no you don't, your not leaving until you get one of my famous milkshakes, I'll be right back with it" I just smiled
"So you love her milkshakes to" Michael said
I just shook my head, still embarrassed about our last encounter.
"Liyah, I'm sorry about earlier, I wasn't tryna be mean"
"It's good, I shouldn't invaded your privacy like that." It got quiet for a moment.
"How about we just start over. My name's Liyah, what's yours?" He reached over and grabbed my hand
"My name is Michael, its nice to meet you"
"You to" I smiled. "So what's your favorite milkshake up here?"
"Well of course the chocolate cookies and cream"
I gasped and he looked at me crazy.
"I see a beautiful start to great friendship" we both laughed.
After our laughs calmed down m, Mrs Sandy walked over with my milkshake and his food.
"So tell me more about you" as he was eating his burger.
"Well what do you want to know?"
"Anything"
"Okay, well not to much to know, I'm kinda boring" I laughed. "But I pretty much lived down here my whole life, when I graduated and turned 18 I finally made my dream come true and move to New York City to own my own bakery and I did it all on my own ."
"That's amazing bro many people can do that. I actually had one of those sugar cookies you sent your grandma and sister. They were delicious." I blushed
Many people have told me that my desserts were good but when he told me I couldn't help but smile a little.
"Thank you, I try. So tell me something about you."
He shut down for a minute but he eventually, gained the courage to say something.
"Well of course you know I'm not from down here, I'm actually from Alabama. I currently live with my little sister and grandma."
"Not to be all up in your business, but why did y'all move down here?" He laughed but I was serious, this town literally sucks.
"We just needed a change of scenery. I had a lot problems and issues going on back in Alabama, and I didn't want my sister or grandma to deal with it."
Mhmm, I'm gonna have to find out what's that all about.
That whole day at the dinner we talked about our childhood and told funny stories. I learned that Michael is a very cool person. In a way he's kinda like me, quiet sometimes but doesn't take shit form anyone.
I looked at my phone and it was 8, the sun was setting.
"Alright guys I gotta lock up, I'm tired" Mrs. Sandy said.
"Okay see you soon then" I said and gave her a hug, so did Michael.
"So I guess I'll see you tomorrow, I gotta do some work in your grandma's shed" he said.
"Would you like to exchange numbers" he nodded and he gave me his phone and I gave him mines.
He walked me to my car and I said "see you tomorrow"
On my way home all I could to was smile.
