AN—the Mistral tournament has two parts, amateur and pro, you need to be in the top ten twice in the amateur to make pro, or once if your in the top three.

This is my idea for how Pyrrha won four times in a row since combat prep schools I think are 15 minimum, and how a 13 year old first timer beat people with at least a decade more experience.

Now let the puppet show begin!!!

"Hey Rusty, Bearskin wants to talk to you"

"Send him in." He says, not pausing on his work as the Garage door opens. Putting away his tools he crawled out from under the car lift, seeing the shoemaker approach . "Can I help you?" He asks as he lowered the vehicle.

"The Arc's are stirring up trouble," the fur-cloaked man bluntly informed. "Nicholas asked me to let his daughter train with the other guards."

"That overgrown hornet?! Tor and I wanted to deal with her after she messed up our rides. The course is gonna be gruesome for her." He laughed maniacally.

"You do that, with how they act it's a wonder Jaune hasn't snapped. I just hope he won't become like those kids in that survey." Both of them were silent at that.

Seven years ago, a Beacon graduate posted a paper involving the children of first generation huntsman. It went into explaining how the children were given training that was too harsh for them, or being neglected due to constant missions. This resulted in children running away, emancipation, or even committing parricide in the worse cases. Several children were interviewed after these incidents, and offered jobs and homes once given treatment. The parents were deemed unfit for childcare and removed from any adoption lists. Many huntsman were horrified at this, taking time to stay with their family and looking for proper training methods and wait for them to join a prep school first. Haven academy actually went as far as making a daycare for toddlers with books on childcare.

"What were those two thinking? two hunter's with eight kids? Jaune running could be seen a mile away."

"Agreed, but for now I want him away for at least two days while i deal with this. Where is he now?"

"Oh, he's looking for a ruin on the island chain. He finally deciphered the exact location of an old war base." The mechanic said proudly.

"What?! He's out on the ocean alone?"

"Relax, he's coasting on the shore, and he killed a Hacksaw by himself last week, it's the water version of an ursa," He added at his puzzled look. "Plus the islands are too small for anything like a Deathstalker, so he should be fine as long as he has his weapons and aura suppressor."

"Why would that help him?"

"In case of aura detecting Grimm or traps."

"Never thought of them being used like that." Bearskin hummed thoughtfully. He then blinked, "Wait, how is he even getting to the island in the first place?"

"With an underwater tank he borrowed since the sub he won from poker is being refurbished." The brunette said as if talking about the weather.

".....what?"

Abandoned island base, 200 km west of Delta

The reclaimer base was built where the islands clumped together, close enough to wade between them. The local wildlife have long adapted to noise from boats and bullheads since the western islands were near a route for larger vehicles. At the shore of the second largest, was a shape heading towards it.
