Warnings: Mentions of death and blood, slight angst and fluff

You sighed wearily as you collapsed on your bed, kicking off your shoes in random directions. You were very much prepared to lapse into a coma when the ringtone you now highly regretted choosing floated up to your ears from your pocket. You sleepily pulled it out and answered it as best as someone could that close to passing out.

"What's... up?"

"Y/N?" You knew that voice, though it took a while for you to be able to put a name and face to it.

"Oh hey, Garth," you yawned.

"Are you drunk?"

"Just tired... turned out to be... nest... vamps."

Garth laughed at your pathetic attempt at a sentence. "Alright, Y/N. I had an urgent job for you but I guess I can get someone else to go hunt those demons."

"Demons?" You shot straight up and rushed to grab our shoes. "Where? I'll leave right now."

"Woah, hey, it's not that urgent."

"It's demons, Garth. It's always urgent."

Garth sighed and began explaining the situation. Over the past two weeks seemingly random people had gone missing, the only thing seeming to link them was the rotten egg smell left behind, which meant sulfur. By the time he had finished talking you were already driving. You turned up the music and smiled as you heard Wild Heart by Daughtry - practically your theme song - just starting, and sang along.

"You used to be the girl who set the world on fire

And they doused your soul in water but the flames raged higher

Used to act so tough like you could walk on a wire

And they called you devil's daughter, such a pretty liar

Yeah

Yeah"

You grimaced as the ridiculously loud music assaulted your ears, scanning the room for your best friend. You'd nearly given up as you became lost amongst the crowd of college students, when you felt a gentle tap on your shoulder. "Sam!" You and your best friend pulled each other into a tight hug, and he tried to ignore the fact that you shouldn't be hugging this tight or this long, not when -

"Y/N!" You and Sam jumped apart and turned to face the smiling blonde in a nurse costume who gave you a small hug before wrapping her arm around Sam's, her boyfriend's, waist. "Where's your costume?"

"I, uh, well, I just -"

"How about I get us some drinks? (Favourite drink - alcoholic or not)?" You nodded and sent Sam a grateful look for interrupting the awkward moment. He gave you a reassuring one back.

Somebody had come over and started talking with Jess so you just let your eyes wander around the room. Some creepy guy appeared to be staring at you but you brushed it off, not allowing your eyes to linger on him and give the wrong impression. Sam was back a little while later, sending a glare you didn't notice to the creepy guy, before handing you your drink with a smile. "Thank you, Sam." You smiled, and Sam tried not to think of how his heart sped up at the sight.
