Sesshōmaru’s POV

When the miko had mentioned a bath earlier I thought she was referring to a hot spring but no the damn human expected me to bath a tiny thing she called a bathtub. I watched as she turned something strange water pouring out. Was she a witch while she was at it?

Once the water was a certain level she got up handing me a towel and something she called clothes. She told me to change into them once I was done bathing. I stared at the strange clothes for a minute as she left. I threw them near the bath before undressing and stepping into the bath. The water was warm but I didn’t see any steam. This must be the humans’ version of a hot bath. Rinsing out my hair I quickly bathed as I felt the water getting colder.

I dried myself off. I stared once more at the clothes the miko had given me. They looked nothing like my kimono. I started to get frustrated with trying to figure out how to put the damn so-called clothes. Finally I was able to figure out how they went.

The miko knocked on the door. Her voice passing through the door, “Hey are you done yet?”

I opened the door stepping out into the small hallway. I stared down at the miko. Who just stared up at me without saying another word. I was getting irritated with her staring, “What?”

She shook her had as if ending the trance she had been in, “Nothing you just look different. Can you change into your human form? We’re going downtown to go get you some clothes that will fit you better. Also practice some socializing.”

I heard a low growl start at my throat. I closed my eyes focusing on nothing but changing into my human form. It was slightly draining, as I haven’t done this since I was pup myself. But soon I felt my fangs retreat back into my gums, my nails becoming shorter and my ears becoming as normal as a human. I felt my markings fading away.

I heard the miko gasp. When I opened my eyes I noticed that she was staring at me once more. What was with this miko and staring? Was that just something to expect from humans. If it was I was going to be irritated most of the time.

I turned around leaving the way I remembered coming through earlier. I growled at the hanyō. He was wearing similar clothes to what I was wearing. But they seemed to fit him loosely while mine were a bit tight, “What!?” I barked at him.

He laughed, “So this is your human form. You look different from the pureblood demon you are. Your eyes are a different shade even your hair is a different color. You look normal actually human like.”

The miko showed up before I could answer. She grabbed the hanyō’s arm before glancing my way, “Come on we’re going to get you some clothes and see how your socializing skills are.”

I fallowed the miko and the hanyō out of the cabin and headed off towards some steps that lead down to a road. Everything in this time looked strange and had an odd odor to it. It was nothing like the Feudal Era. I looked around but saw no horses but I did see people in strange objects that passed by.

The miko waved at one of the moving objects that I had seen other people in. She turned to look at me, “We’re taking a taking a taxi downtown it’s the modern way of moving around called a car.”

I watched as a yellow “car” as she called it stopped in front of us. She stepped into the “car” fallowed by the hanyō they both looked up at me waiting for me to do something. So I fallowed their lead and got in as well. The miko told the man driving where to take us and soon we were moving a faster rate than a horse.

We stopped in front of a larger version of a cabin. I scanned around seeing people in similar “clothes” the miko had given me. The woman wore clothing showing more skin than I’ve seen anyone show in public back in the Feudal Era. The men seemed to appreciate this sort of appearance.

Three human girls ran towards us waving their hands as they yelled out, “Kagome were over here.”

The miko smiled approaching the human girls, “Hey Ayumi, Eri and Yuka it’s been a while since we last saw each other.”

The girl short brown hair smiled pulling the miko into her arms while throwing daggers over her shoulder at the hanyō, “It really has you’ve been busy with Amaterasu and that two-time scoundrel boyfriend of yours. While we’ve been suffering through yet another year of uni.”

The miko laughed pulling away from her friend, “Yuka don’t start with Inuyasha we’ve gone through a million times he’s not a two-timing scoundrel now leave him be.”

The one with short black hair who looked similar to the miko spoke up, “Why did you call us Kagome. You said you needed us to help with turning some idiot into Ama’s perfect boyfriend.”

The girl with wavy shoulder length black hair looked my way. She stared at me just like the miko had earlier. Her cheeks turned red as she turned to look at the miko, “Is that him behind you with Inuyasha?”

Without turning to look my way the miko answered, “Yeah that’s him. His names Sesshōmaru he’s Inuyasha’s older brother.”

The girl she had called Yuka glanced my way. Instead of staring at me like her friend she shot daggers at me as well, “Anyone related to that thing is no good. Ama doesn’t deserve a guy like that. He seems like a cold and heartless man. He looks older than us how old is he anyways?”

The miko seemed at lost for words. Not sure how to respond to her friends question. I spoke without much emotion, “I’m twenty-one three years older than Amaterasu. I knew her as a pup I know her more than you I’m sure of that.”

Yuka raised her eyebrow at me, “Pup? What is she a dog to you?” She threw her hands into the air. “See he’s no better than that useless brother of his.”

“She is a…” Before I could say anything else the damn miko dared to throw her hand over my mouth stopping me from saying that Amaterasu was a demon dog just like me.

The miko hissed at me, “Shut up you idiot they don’t know about demons. They think they’re nothing but stories told to them as children. Now shut up and just fallow my lead.”

I glared at the miko’s back as she released her grip on my mouth as she walked back to her friends, “Sorry about that guys. Sesshōmaru and Amaterasu have this thing that when they were little they used to call each other pups. He didn’t think you about how it would sound to you guys.”

I decided to tune out the rest of their conversation. They really were annoying humans. How Amaterasu could willingly choose to befriend these humans was beyond me. Just being around them made my head throb.

I let my thoughts wonder as an image of a small Amaterasu running through the meadows turning her head to stick her tongue out at me before yelling out, “Shesshy you can’t catch me.”

I laughed as I thought back to how carefree we both were back then. When I wasn’t expected to become Lord of the Western Region and she wasn’t in danger of losing her life at the hands of a demon seeking to take the power that lay dormant within her. How fate had thrown us down a twisted path. But this time I wasn’t going to give in so easily not without a fight.
