Sesshōmaru’s POV
I don’t know why I came all the way over here all morning my demon has been a nuisance whining trying to get out. It was driving me insane I was even snapping at Jaken and Rin for the smallest of thing. Finally I gave into my demons demand to come over here. I could smell that worthless hanyō of Inuysha and that miko he was always chasing after.
I could hear the miko yelling at Inuyasha, “What do you mean you can’t tell me. Amaterasu is my best friend since we were little girls. I have the right to know whatever she has been keeping from me.”
The name the miko just spoke of caught my attention. But it couldn’t be the same girl that I once knew. She was long gone she had disappeared with her mother long ago over a hundred years now. With her left the only good memories I had ones where I used to smile and laugh.
“Damn it Kagome I told you already I can’t speak for her. She has to tell you herself. It’s her secret not mine just wait till you return to your time. I’m sure she’ll explain everything to you then.” Inuyasha yelled back at the miko. He sounded irritated and running out of patience for his woman.
The wind picked up bringing the scent of the damn hanyō and miko to my nose. My demon growled Mate!! She’s near find her now!! We must go it’s time!! I growled back. You stupid demon there is no one else here but that damn hanyō and miko. I can smell her scent she’s close.
Stupid demon was starting to get on my nerves again. I watched as the well started to glow purple and pink. Just as the scent of wild cherry blossoms and jasmine hit my nose. I lost control I couldn’t stop my demon from taking over I felt my eyes burning red as I found myself jumping into the well after the miko.
I heard Inuyasha growl as jumped in right after me, “Sesshōmaru you bastard you lay a finger on Kagome and your dead!”
I had no interest in his weak miko. My demon was the one who was chasing after her but it wasn’t her scent who was calling us it was the scent of wild cherry blossoms and jasmine. Who ever it was my demon had laid claim on her. Now he wanted to make it clear to everyone.
Amaterasu’s POV
Kagome had said she’d return by nightfall so I decided to head over to the shed where the well was. I’d wait for her there. I had to tell her the truth it was now or never. I walked over to the shed but I was knocked to the side as two bodies broke though the doors. One I could clearly make out as Inuyasha with his long silver hair, wolf ears and red kimono but the other guy I couldn’t make out who he was.
For once in a long time I felt my demon speak Mate it’s him! We must protect him! I was shocked to hear my demon’s voice inside my head again. What do you mean mate? We have no mate. My demon growled back to me He’s our mate we must protect him!
I stared at the two fighting men watching as they continued to fight it out between one another. I could see that both of their eyes were pure red I could see red markings on the other man who now had Inuyasha pinned to the ground. I gasped as I recognized that man but he looked nothing like the young boy I had grown up with. I found myself stepping closer to the two fighting men, “Sesshy….I mean Lord Sesshōmaru is that you?”
Sesshōmaru stepped away from Inuyasha turning to look at me his eyes returned to their golden color as he stared right back at me. It was as if he had seen a ghost. He stepped forward placing his hand on my cheek, “Ama…Amaterasu your alive? I thought that you were dead it’s been over a hundred years since I saw you.”
Kagome ran out of the shed taking in how close Sesshōmaru was to me. She tried stepping in between us but I found myself wrapping my arms around Sesshōmaru’s waist tears falling down my face as I buried my face in his chest, “I’ve miss you so much Sesshy.”
Sesshōmaru’s POV
Amaterasu caught me off guard as she started to cry burying her face in my chest muffling her words, “I’ve missed you so much Sesshy.”
I found myself wrapping my arms around Amaterasu waist. I felt my heart tighten as I pulled her closer to me. My demon growled once more, Our mate, she’s our mate. We can never let her go ever again. For once I agreed with him No we won’t. I looked down at the woman the small fragile girl who taught me to live laugh and love long ago had grown into. She was beautiful with her long wavy black hair ending at her mid back. I tried soothing her like I did when we were children rubbing her back as I whispered in her ear, “I missed you too Ama. I thought I’d never see you again. You were supposed to return on your eighteenth birthday but you never did. I waited for you at your Father’s castle for two months.”
She pulled away enough so that she could look up at me. Disbelief written in her eyes, “You waited for me? But I’ve been told that you’ve changed that you had become heartless and emotionless.”
I turned to glare at Inuyasha and his miko they must have told Amaterasu that. When my eyes meet with his I could see the disbelief in his eyes. I turned to look back at Amaterasu, “It’s true I did change when you left. I had no one else to laugh and play with. You were my only friend.”
She pulled away from me putting distance between us. Her face showed no hint of emotion in her features nor her voice, “So you become heartless and emotionless because of me? I’m the one to blame for what became of that sweet boy I grew attached to.”
Before I could answer Amaterasu turned on her heels and ran away. I wanted to chase after her my demon yelling, We have to chase after her. She’s in pain we have to make sure she’s okay. I turned to look at the miko, “Go after her she needs someone other than me.”
The miko didn’t look at me or Inuyasha as she ran off in the direction Amaterasu had disappeared only seconds before. She would do a better job comforting her than I would right now. I had felt no emotion for so long that I wasn’t sure how to react to offering her the comfort she needed right now.
“So she’s your mate the one who made you change completely when she left our time.” Inuyaha’s pestering voice filled the air breaking the silence that had fallowed Amaterasu’s departure only moments ago.
I don’t know why I even answered him but I did, “She is my mate but I don’t know if she still sees me as hers. I never marked her as mine we were promised to one another by our parents when she was born around the same time as you.”
I walked over to a tree resting my back against it. I heard him approach me, “Just tell her the truth you love her she’s your intended mate after all. Narako is long dead it’s time you started living your life. You have more power than anyone else in the Feudal Era.”
I closed my eyes not believing what this hanyō was saying to me. Was it really possible for me to return to the way I was before Amaterasu had left long ago. Maybe I could but only if I had her by my side, “It’s up to her to decide she holds my heart in her hands not me.”
