"You'll never catch me" I called out to my dad who, despite his lack of breath, has been chasing me around the house for the past 20 minutes. He soon catches up to me and swings me over his shoulder. I start playfully hitting his back and hope that he's not too out of energy to play dress up like he promised. My dad sits me down on a stool in the kitchen and grabs two ice pops out of the fridge.
"Here you go, madame" he hands me one while bowing.
"Why thank you, kind sir" I say in a posh voice causing both of us to giggle. After we finish our Popsicles my dad tucks a loose blonde curl behind my ear and says two words that are completely out of context.
"Wake up" what? But I'm not sleeping.
"You're gonna be late for school" this is when I realise that It wasn't my dad talking, but my mom. My eyes flutter open but quickly shut. The light becoming too bright. After a long internal battle I finally convince myself to get up, leaving the memory of last nights dream in bed. I slowly walk to my closet, feeling dead on my feet. Once I've turned it into a pig pen, like I have done everyday so far, I decide on wearing light blue skinnies, a white tank top, my leather jacket and black combat boots. Unlike most girls,I don't care too much for makeup and the most I do with my hair is brush it. As I make my way downstairs the intense smell of cinnamon hit me like a brick wall.

"Amber, honey. I made your favorite" mom calls in a sweet, high pitched voice also known as the fake voice she uses when William, my older brother, is visiting from college. Which is rare. I tell Liam good morning and ruffle his hair, but instead stead of sitting down at the table, like my mom wanted, I chug a glass of orange juice, not daring to touch the cinnamon rolls that haven't been my favorite since dad died, 3 years agoWhen I get outside Nikki is waiting at the end of the driveway. She's been my ride ever since she got her drivers license. I would get mine but I dont see the point in it when I don't have a car. And when the mean lady at the DMV keeps failing me because I refuse to only use one foot.

"Get in the car ,loser." she yells, "we're going shopping." I hate how much she loves that movie. I mean, mean girls is a good movie, but after hearing Nikki copy the lines so many times, ive come to hate it.

"I wish," i mumble under my breath. Nikki just rolls her eyes and drives to school. When we arrive, I walk to my locker to get my leather messenger bag. Im not sure when I started leaving it here but I remember that I'm always too lazy to bring it home.

First period, as usual, made me question whether or not my classmates bribed their way into 12th grade. Some dumb blonde 'thought she saw a rat'. Which caused every girl to scream, every guy to laugh and the teacher to yell. Turns out, the 'rat' was actually a door stop. Another even that occured is that some girl had a cat in her bag and apparently it confused her lunch container with a litter box.
