I was standing in the middle of the dance floor, completely immersed in the rhythm of my favorite song. As the music ended, I suddenly felt a strong urge to take a bathroom break. The club I was in had a connected restaurant area, which housed the restroom, and with the amount I had been drinking that night to escape the troubles back home, my bladder was particularly full.
I turned towards the club's exit, intending to make my way to the bathroom through the restaurant side. Once I entered the restroom and washed my hands, I bumped into a woman. Her face looked vaguely familiar, and I racked my brain, trying to recall where I had seen her before.
There was something intriguing about her, a sense of connection that I couldn't quite place. As I continued to search my memory, the pieces slowly fell into place.
"Sophia?" The woman eyed me curiously, trying to place my face.
I suddenly realized who it was.
"Angie, is it you?" I asked, genuinely surprised to see her here.
"Oh my god, I can't believe it is you!" Angie exclaimed with delight, and she pulled me into a warm, heartfelt hug. We quickly fell into a conversation, catching up on each other's lives and reminiscing about our shared memories.
Our moms were best friends while we were growing up, creating a strong bond between us. However, life took an unexpected turn when her mother divorced and moved, taking Angie and her brother far away to another state. In the beginning, we tried to stay in touch, but as time passed, life got busier, and our connection gradually faded away. Eventually, we lost touch completely, leaving behind cherished memories of our childhood friendship.
In the crowded club, as I stood there facing the woman who was once my childhood companion, a wave of disbelief washed over me. I couldn't believe my eyes - it was Angie! After all these years of not seeing each other, we somehow recognized each other in that dimly lit room filled with strangers. I realized that the true bonds of friendship are never truly broken, no matter how much time has passed.
"It's been a while, huh?" I said, smiling at Angie.
"Yes! What are you doing all the way here?" she asked, genuinely curious.
"I'm just traveling around. I travel for work, so I'm taking the opportunity to visit different places and have a change of scenery," I explained.
"That's so cool! Listen, we should keep in touch and spend more time together while you're here!" Angie suggested enthusiastically.
"I would like that very much," I replied, feeling a surge of excitement at the prospect of rekindling our friendship.
Not wanting the night to end just yet, Angie invited me to join her at her table for dinner. My stomach was growling, and I welcomed the idea of having a meal to soak up the alcohol before heading back to my hotel. It seemed like the perfect way to extend our time together.
We made our way past the regular tables and found ourselves in a VIP enclosed area. There were several people seated around the round table, and among them, I spotted a familiar face - Angie's brother. He looked as handsome as ever, and I couldn't help but feel a rush of nostalgia. It had been years since we last saw each other, and the sight of him brought back memories from our childhood.
He was ten years older than me, but when we were younger, I had a secret crush on him. I remembered how he always treated me kindly, and sometimes, I wondered if there was something more behind his actions. However, as a child, it was hard to distinguish between genuine affection and sibling-like care. Nonetheless, seeing him now, all grown up reignited those feelings I had buried deep inside.
