"Who is the new toy? You can't keep it a secret from me forever Kay. I'm your best friend, large secrets kept from me don't fly in my book." I told Kayla as we walked to the other side of the school to history class. "Kayllllllaaa...." I tried grabbing her attention.
"Hm? What? What are you talking about?" Kayla asked mindlessly walking through the halls.
"I asked who you were texting so much!" I grabbed her phone out of her hands and looked at her recent message. "Who is babes? Is this a girl or boy? Or just a fake message?"
"Hey wait?!" Kayla argued trying to get the phone back. I scrolled through the recent message, reading through I saw lots of cute little messages about them missing Kayla.
"Does this person go to our school?! You have never told me this before! Kayla, what is going on?" Kayla looked at me shyly. "You need to tell me what's going on, you never keep things from me." I started to freak out, Kayla never ever kept secrets from me. We were always so close, nothing got between us ever.
"Yes, okay yes! They go to our school, but unless it's official I can't tell you who they are."
They?! "What do you mean THEY?! You have more than one person you are seeing? Kayla, what is going on? I thought we were best friends! I thought we didn't keep secrets from each other." I started to tear up, "Kayla...."
"I promise. I will tell you as soon as I know, then you'll know. I don't want to mess this up, baby. I can't mess this up, and no there isn't more than one person. It's just one person baby."
I sighed and handed back the phone to Kayla, "Okay... I understand, But as soon as you know, I know. Got it?" She nodded her head. "Good, Now let's get to class before the bell rings." She just chuckled.
"Hey, Lucas?" She paused in the middle of the hall. "Thank you."
"For?"
"Understanding.."
I smiled at her stepping closer, " You have been there for me these last few years. I know they must be very important to you if you want to make sure it's true. I trust you, Kayla. I love you girl.."
"I love you too my little baby." I blushed as Kayla gave me a tight squeeze. "You'll always be my little baby, till the very end." She smiled brightly and grabbed my hand, "Let's hurry up. We are really going to be late at this point, and the class is right there." I started laughing as I realized we were only 100 feet from the classroom door. It was at the other end of the building, which was pretty much empty, besides the pool locker rooms and the pool of course. We walked holding hands as we finally got to the door.
History with Mr. B, was super easy, well when you actually paid attention. I passed his basic history class when I was a freshman, since history came easy to me I decided to take Ap history with him. I barely got Kayla to pass last time but was very surprised when Kayla signed up for the class herself. She had told me that it was because she loved me so much but, I'm pretty sure she just secretly likes history. Surprising right?
"Hiiii Mr. B." Kayla said, smiling brightly at him. He just gave her a small wave in response.
"I swear he is so creepy, Stop being so nice to him." She just shrugged and headed off to our usual spots. I followed behind her and sat to her right, which was right by the windows, above the pool. "Did you study during other classes?"
"Mhmm.." Kayla said texting away on her phone. I rolled my eyes at her, I swear she is like a child in love. Love at first sight with the boy at recess, who climbs the monkey bars the whole time. Suddenly the bell rang through the silence and Mr. B finally headed to the front of the class.
