The wait

Chicago: Will's POV
Jay and I are waiting for Sam to get through surgery. I'm nervous and keep walking up and down. Jay is sitting in a chair quietly. The Intelligence team gets through the door. The man who shot Sam is behind them and apparently needs surgery too as they take him into an OR. "How is she?" Voight comes up to us. "We don't know. She lost a lot of blood and needed an emergency surgery, we haven't got an update yet." I say. Hailey and Kim start crying. "Shit" Adam says while he comforts Kim. "What about that guy who did all of this?" I ask. "He got shot in his chest. But he's gonna make it." Antonio explains. Dr Latham comes up and rushes in Sam's OR. I look at Jay. He looks like he's gonna have a breakdown any second and honestly I feel the same way. I go sit next to him. "She is a fighter Jay. You know that." I say. Jay looks up and nods.
2,5 hours later
Connor gets out of the OR and we all stand up. "Sam is stable for now but she lost a lot of blood. We were able to fix the bleedings and get the bullets out. She is probably gonna need an extra surgery to help her recover but we'll see about that in the future. We are bringing her up tot the ICU and do some tests when she wakes." He says. We all take a deep breath and I give Jay a hug. "Thanks Connor" I say. "Yeah, really thanks." Jay says and he gives him a hug. "Ofcourse, I go get changed and walk with you to the IC. Just wait here okay." He responds. We nod and watch him leave. "That's good news." Voight says. "Yes. Now see how she will be when she wakes up." I say. After a few minutes Connor gets out again and we go to the intensive care. The nurses are finishing up getting her comfortable. Connor, Jay and I walk in, I sit down next to her and I grab her hand. I look at her. She looks so fragile, with all those tubes and plugs around her.  "How are her vitals?" Connor asks the nurse. "They are okay. Her liver isn't that good." She responds and gives him the tablet. He looks at it. "Connor?" I ask. "The bullet got through her abdomen and her liver. That's why her vitals aren't good for that. We"ll give her some meds for it to help it get better." He responds and he gives the nurse orders to give Sam an extra IV. "Will it heal?" Jay asks. "I don't know yet. We'll do some tests after a few days to see if it gets better. If not then we probably need a transplant for her." He responds. Suddenly I feel a squeeze in my hand. "She's waking up!" I say. We all look at Sam. "Sam?" Jay asks. Her eyes open a little and close again. Then she squeezes Jay's hand. "Now she squeezes me" he says. Sam's eyes open again and she is more awake now. She is looking around and starts panicking and breathing heavenly. "Calm down Sam. You're safe here. Nothing is gonna happen to you. You're brothers are here." Connor says. She calms down a little but can't speak because she intubated. "Allright good job little one. I am going to pull this tube okay?" Connor says. Sam nods and looks at me. "It's okay, we are here." I say trying to comfort her. "There we go." Connor says and he carefully pulls out the tube. Sam coughs a few times as it gets out. "That feels better huh?" Connor asks. "Yeah." Sam responds. "How do you feel Sammy?" Jay asks. "Sore, pain and tired." She says with tears in her eyes. "That's normal after what you've been through. We'll give you some meds for the pain. Put 2 mg of morfine in the IV please, thank you." Connor says. He examines her and fill is her record. "I'll be back to check on you soon." He says while he leaves. "I'm so sorry Sam. I shouldn't have left you at the station alone." Jay says. She looks up to him. "No, don't say that. It was just bad luck." She responds. "Will?" "Yeah what is it?" I ask her. "My stomach hurts and it gets worse." She says. "Okay, I call dr Rhodes in. Keep telling this kind of stuff." I say. I get outside and find a nurse to paige dr Rhodes. "Is she allright?" Hailey asks while she comes up to me. "Kind of. She is awake but very tired and in pain. She's getting treated for that now." I tell her. The rest of the team joins us. "That's good to hear Will." Antonio says. "WILL COME HERE! IT'S SAM!" Jay suddenly screams. I rush into her room and see Sam in Jay's arms throwing up blood. "What happened?" Connor comes in. "Will got out to paige you because her stomach started hurting. And suddenly she felt sick and almost choked in blood. I pulled her aside and she started throwing up blood." Jay explains. "Sam? I'm gonna make an echo of your stomach okay?" Connor says. Sam shows her tumb because she couldn't speak so Connor does the echo quickly. "She is bleeding again. She needs surgery again or she will bleed out. Let's go." Connor says. Sam looks at me. She starts crying. "It's okay. Connor is going to fix it." I say. We ran up to the OR and get Sam in again. "Will you have to wait outside again." A nurse tells me. "Okay." I and I get out. I see Jay on the hallway. "She is in surgery now. We have to wait again." I say. "I know." He responds.
