KAYDEN
I pull at my hair. My wolf is closer to the surface than ever before. Avery's been missing for a week. A damn week and it feels devastating. I can't feel her at all. My calm. My perfect mate was taken right from under my nose. Why did we even go to that damn club, to begin with? The council is no help at all.
When we brought it up to them they shrugged it off as these things happen. This shit doesn't just happen. They had to have been the ones to take her. I can't feel her. We've been looking and looking and no clues to her whereabouts have come out.
Dean growls from in front of the window. He's been a wolf for four days now. I don't blame him. He had a feeling that night. I should have known better.
Every available surface of this shitty motel is covered in maps. We've been moving from town to town. If we get close enough, maybe just maybe we will be able to feel her. Maybe our connection will snap back to its place. That's the only thing we can do at this point.
"Are you ready?" Nick asks from the door.
I cock my head to the side, my eyes lighting up with my wolf, "Ready for what?" I snarl. I haven't been paying attention. Lost in the thoughts of Avery and everything I should have done.
"We're going to go check out this bar. Reports of Empaths being taken from there." Aden says.
I nod and follow them. I make sure to stay away from Dean. He's bitten me ten times now, and I'm tired of his teeth being in my skin.
"Cam needs to come," Dean says.
I look at him naked as the day he was born.
"No!" Aden snarls and Cam keeps his mouth shut. Those two have fought about this every day since Avery was taken.
"Yes." Dean growls, "They won't talk to us. We know this, but if an Empath is there, that ups are chances that someone will speak to Cam." Dean snarls and shifts back.
His white wolf looking right at Cam. Cam looks up from the chair, "He's right Aden."
Aden snarls but nods his head in defeat. He knows it is our best bet at getting Avery back.

The Black Hummer comes to a gradual stop in the gravel lot outside Lucky's. I narrow my eyes at the dive bar on the outskirts of Bryson City, North Carolina. I didn't make out much as Nick sped through this tiny mountain town. The moon set full and plump in the night sky as we drove through.
Lucky's is a small square building from the outside it looks unfriendly and ran down. Plastered walls and rotting wooden beams make up most of the building's outer structure.
I gaze at the darkened windows covered in filth. The desperation from within can be felt outside as my wolf whines within me.
"Are you sure this is the right place?" I mumble.
"That's what our last contact said," Aden growls and I look in the back seat.
Cam's normal tan skin is ghostly white and his are wide.
"Are you okay?"
Cam looks at me with wild eyes, "I'll be fine." He whispers and looks back at the building.
I grunt and open my door. The gravel crunching underneath my boots as I step out of the car. I shut the door silently and listen to the surrounding crickets.
A thick fog covers the ground, and the air has a chill to it. I close my eyes and inhale, looking for any hint of Avery's winter scent. I don't smell her, but I smell piss and vomit and other nasty smells aggravate my sensitive nose I grunt and walk around the back of the hummer opening the trunk. A white wolf with copper eyes jumps out. I shut the back and watch as Dean raises his head and smells the night air. He whines and takes off into the dense forest that surrounds us.
I join the others at the front of the building and shift on my feet. My muscles tense. What if this is just another dead end? A waste of time? I growl and shake my head.
I push through the old wooden door, and every head in the room turns towards us. My wolf raises to the surface at the hostile looks pointed our way.
I ignore them and stroll to the bar. The floor is sticking, making an awful noise as I go around a table. I grimace.
A husky laugh pulls my eyes to the worn bar. A slim man in his forties is wiping down the tabletop. He smirks at me as I pull out an old bar stool and sit down. His black eyes look at me with hatred, then surprise as he sees Cam taking a seat beside me. Dean was right, we needed Cam with us.
Aden growls, pulling the bar tender's black eyes away from a paling Cam.
"Are you Daniel Palmer?" I ask as calmly as I can. My wolf wants to come out, but I hold him at bay. The tension in the room could cut butter.
"I am." He says, his voice gruff and full of suspicion. He eyes me wearily and flicks his eyes back to Cam.
"We're looking for someone." Cam whispers. "She was taken over a week ago."
Daniel looks at our group with fear and worry. My hands curl at my sides and my heart drops to my stomach.
"Can you help us?" Cam says.
"No, but I know someone who can. Come back tomorrow night."
He turns around and we just sit here. Cam gets up and Aden along with Nick leaveing the dive bar.
"She's very important to us." My voice cracks and Daniel turns around. "I'll do anything to get her back." My breath comes out as a whine and I shake my head.
I get up from the stool and leave the bar. I can feel curious eyes on me, but I don't stop. Tomorrow. I let the word bring up a bit of hope in my body. Please. I beg whoever can hear me. Please let us find her.
