After a few moments of thinking, I got up and padded over to Ice, who was sitting down next to Fang. They were talking about how to deliver a death bite. I shuddered at their love of fighting.
"Ice?" I barked. She looked up at me. "Do you want to go hunting with me?"
She looked at Fang. "No thanks. I just hunted with Fang this morning. But I can go with you tomorrow, if I have time."
I flattened my ears, "No thanks. I might not have time tomorrow." I whipped around and stormed off. I knew Ice was going to go see Fang again. I don't know why I bothered with her.
Again I met Bird. I rolled my eyes and tired to go around her. But she blocked my path.
"What?" I snapped.
"Ice blow you off?" she guessed.
"No." I said defensivly.
"Oh, then what happened?" Bird barked innocently. "You just go up to her and then stomp off for no reason?" She leaned in closer to me. I drew back.
"Don't."
"Don't what?" I asked.
Bird narrowed her eyes. "Don't try with her. You'll just get your heart broken."
"Why is it always you who gives me love advice? I do not need it. I am fine on my own." I turned around and walked away from her. But she only followed me step for step.
"I am because no one else will! And you were a stupid, weak human who knew nothing of wolves or love. You do need it."
"Why? Why would you care who I like? It's not you, for sure." I growled. Bird was unoffended by my comment. She only flattened her ears and glared at me. I looked around. Wolves were looking at us and some of them were smiling. I growled and turned away from here again. I walked into the forest.
Bird didn't follow me when I raced into the woods. I ran and ran until I reached the edge of the woods. Then I saw something I thought I would never had seen before.
My old home sat there, all the lights off. The grass was overgrown and snow was unshoveled from the driveway. I stopped and stared at it. It looked to be abandoned for a long time. I slowly crept up to it. I was a foot away from it when I stopped. I was under my window to my bedroom. The glass was still broken from when I jumped out to save myself from my brother's gun.
I walked around the house a little. It was definatly empty. I also felt a little hollow inside, as if I was abandoned along with the house. I entered the screen door, which was torn away. I stepped inside and gazed at the kitchen. I spent my whole life in this house. I remember when I was just a little human. I sniffed the fridge. Nothing was in there. That means my family left purposly. I got sad to think of them leaving me. Maybe they thought it was too dangerous with me around.
I slipped back out of the house. I didn't want to be in there anymore. I walked out into the forest. I turned and gazed at my house one more time before walking away.
But then I heard an exciteed squeal. I whipped around, thinking it was Sarah. But nothing was there. I turned around again and thought to myself, You're losing your mind.
But then I heard it again, this time high in the trees. I looked up. Nothing was there except an odd looking bird who shook snow off itself and stared at me with dark gray eyes. It was fat and round, it's feathers the color of royal blue. It had a long tail but short beak. It looked at me and squealed again, high pitched and sounding very much like a girl. I recoiled and stumbled over a log.
"Meet the jay bird." The bird started squaking. "Meet the jay bird."
I stared up at it as it repeated that line many different times. Then it started another sentance. It sounded like a parrot- the squeaky voice.
"Attack, jay bird! Attack!" It hopped around the branch it was sitting on. "Attack! Attack quick!"
I looked around for signs of danger. Then shook my head, angry at my stupidity for believing the bird. It was only a vision. It was not real. Birds couldn't talk like that!
I turned around and ran. I constantly looked behind me. The bird was following me and repeating, "Attack, jay bird! Attack!". It was soaring high above my head, dodging branches and leaves like it was water. I looked back and the ground and raced into the camp. Wolves looked at me like I was mad. The bird was gone and it stopped talking. I panted and crouched in fear.
"What is it?" Sky walked up to me. "Are we under attack?"
I tried to speak between pants. "No. I was just... running..."
Bird stepped up. "He was taking a run through the forest. He just needed air for a while."
"Don't spook us like that!" Sky growled. "Stop before you enter camp."
"Yes, Sky." I dipped my head. As she turned around, I whipped to face Bird.
"Your welcome." she snapped. Bird walked away.
Then I heard the bird again. It was louder than before. I gazed at the other wolves but they didn't show any sign that they heard the blue bird.
