It's been five years since Thor killed Thanos, Pepper and my dad had a kid, she's called Morgan and I love her more than words can say to be honest, she's the cutest kid you'll ever meet and she's really smart. We've moved into a really nice house but I still spent some time with Nat and Steve at the compound

It was a warm day and I told my dad I was gonna stay at the compound for a few days, he said it was fine, he liked how they made me feel better when I felt like shit. Nat was the only one who really stayed there so I'd come and keep her company every now and then and she liked that I still cared.

I opened the main entrance door.
"Zan! That you?" Nat yelled.
"Romanoff, I'll be in my room, just gonna sort my stuff out." I was sat in my room reading, Rogers knocked on my door.

"Hey, Zan." He smiled.
"Hey Cap. How you feelin' ol' man?" I asked. "Nothings really changed." He sighed.
"Agreed." I agreed, he came and sat on my bed. "How's Morgan though?" He asked.
"She's good, mischievous." I told him.
"The apple doesn't fall far from the tree." He grinned. "Right?" I chuckled.

"You wanna go check on Nat?" He asked.
"I'm worried about her, she's not giving up but she's dying inside." I told him.
"Go down, I'm right behind ya." He sighed.
"Ok." I told him.

I walked downstairs to the sitting room. I stood outside in silence.
"It's definitely Barton. What he's done here, what he's been doing for the last few years. I mean, the scene that he left...I gotta tell you, there's a part of me that doesn't even wanna find him." Rhodey explained. "Will you find out where he's going next?" Nat said. "Nat?" Rhodey sounded concerne.
"Please?" Nat pleaded with tears in her eyes, I walked into the room and sat next to her.
"Rosanna." Rhodey nodded.
"James." I said. He hung up.

Nat started to sob.
"Nat, come on, you've done such a good job." I told her.
"I'm fine, I'm fine." Nat whispered.
"You need a break." I told her. We stayed silent for a few seconds.

"You know, I'd offer to cook you dinner but you seem pretty miserable already." Steve smiled. Nat dried her tears and smiled.
"You here to do your laundry?" nat asked.
"And to see a couple of friends." Steve shrugged. "Clearly, your friends are fine." Nat sighed.
"You know I saw a pod of whales when I was coming over the bridge?" Steve told us.
"In the Hudson?" I asked.
"There's fewer ships, cleaner water." Steve nodded.

"You know, if you're about to tell me, to look on the bright side...Um...I'm about to hit you in the head with a peanut butter sandwich." Natasha sighed.
"She will do it." I nodded.
"I'm counting on it." Steve smiled.
"Sorry. Force of habit." He sighed as he sat down.

"You ever think it'll get better?" I asked.
"I can't see how it could." He shook his head.
"It's just shitty, everyday is the same now." I sighed.
"I know kid. You know I keep telling everybody they should move on and grow. Some do. But not us." He responded.
"I don't see how we could." I told him.
"Exactly. If I move on, who does this." Nat asked. "Maybe it doesn't need to be done." Steve shrugged.

"I used to have nothing. And then I got this. This job." Nat sighed. I looked at the ground.
"This family." She smiled as she put an arm round me. I put my head on her shoulder.
"And I was...I was better because of it. And even though they're gone...I'm still trying to be better." She nodded.
"I think we should all get a life." I smiled.
"Steve first." Nat grinned. Suddenly the hologram device chimed, Nat swiped it.

"Oh, hi, hi! Is anyone home? This is, uh, Scott Lang. We met a few years ago at the airport...in Germany? I was the guy that got really big. I had a mask on. You wouldn't recognise me." A voice on the speaker yelled. "Lang? When is this?" I asked. "Is this an old message?" Steve asked. "It's the front gate." Nat gasped.

We let Scott in, he started pacing and muttering to himself.
"scott, What's up?" I asked.
"I'm fine. Have any of you guys ever studied quantum physics?" Lang asked.
"Only to make conversation." Nat shrugged.
"All right, so five years ago, right before...Thanos...I was in a place called the quantum realm. The quantum realm is like its own microscopic universe. To get in here you have to be incredibly small. Hope. She's my, um..." Scott stuttered.

"Go on? She's your...?" I asked.
"She was my..." He stuttered again.
"All ears, Scott. All ears." I shrugged.
"She was supposed to pull me out. And then Thanos happened...and I got stuck in there." He explained. "I'm sorry, that must have been a very long five years." Natasha shook her head.

"Yeah, but that's just it. It wasn't. For me, it was five hours." Scott told her.
"I'm sorry?" I asked.
"Well, the rules of the quantum realm aren't like they are up here. Everything is unpredictable. Is that anybody's sandwich?" Scott asked.
He took Nat's sandwich. "I'm starving." He explains

Me, Natasha and Steve were really confused.
"Scott. What are you getting at?" I asked.
"So...what I'm saying is...time works differently in the quantum realm. The only problem is right now we don't have a way to navigate it. But what if we did?" He asked.
"I'm listening." I nodded.

"Well I can't stop thinking about it. What if we could somehow control the chaos and we could navigate it? What if there was a way that we could enter the quantum realm, at a certain point in time, but then exit the quantum realm at another point in time? Like..." He rambled.
"Like?" I asked.
"Like before Thanos." He sighed.
"Wait. Are you talking about a time machine?" Steve asked.
"No. No, of course not. No, not a time machine. This is more like a...Yeah. Like a time machine. I know. It's crazy. It's crazy. But I can't stop thinking about it. There's gotta be...some way—It's crazy." He stuttered.

"Scott. I get emails from a raccoon so nothing sounds crazy anymore." Natasha sighed.
"So, who do we talk about this?" Scott asked.
"You know, I've got a friend who could be just the person, Lang." I smirked.
"Who?" He asked. Steve got his keys.
"Let's go." I nodded.
"Who?" He repeated.
