Love.

The thought made you sick but your inner feelings contradicted that for it was the one thing you craved. It's not like you'd encounter it in such an unfair and hellish place as school. You've seen movies so you already had knowledge on how high school loves ended; murdered, cheated on, or you just made a stupid decision to sleep with the guy and he leaves. You had no intentions on being in that group of people. Although, deep inside, that's exactly what you wanted.

You'd never had a boyfriend. Let alone gotten a glance from any of the boys here. Why would they check you out? You were a nerd. Nobody paid attention to you, not like you cared. You'd rather be invisible than be judged. Being invisible had its ups and downs just like anything else though.

Upside, you were never the stereotypical nerd that was teased and/or bulled by the cheerleaders or popular girls. You were just someone that was sort of...there. You had no enemies but you had some close friends. They didn't attend this school though so there's that.

Downside, you were desperate for some sort of affection or skinship. You blamed it on your developing hormones and your period. Anyway, if you could get a glance from anyone in this dump, you'd hope it'd be Changjo, the best dancer here. It's not like you had feelings for him...it was just that he'd extremely good looking and extremely popular. That'd show people for sure. Buuuut, that was very unlikely and you laughed at yourself in pity every time the thought crossed your mind.

Well that's where your miraculous love story begins. An ordinary, shitty day at school. Perfect, right? It fits the cliche.Your mom had just you off at this stupid school in her stupid car and you had to walk all way across the stupid campus to get to your stupid locker. That was ridiculous by the way. They should complementary segways or conveyor belts like the ones at the airport. It was too much walking for in the morning when you're basically the living dead. Fortunately, you made it to your locker every morning without collapsing.

You did the usual, unloaded and reloaded supplies into your locker and bag. Although you had the daily struggle of yanking your locker keys out of your backpack because they always seemed to entangled with something. You'd wear them around your neck but the lanyard would clash against your uniform. You may be a nerd but you had a taste in fashion.

This locker trip ended a bit differently. As you were about to shut it, something caught your eyes. It was a red piece of paper with a rose. It was sitting at the very bottom your locker. You kneeled down to retrieve it. It was labeled with your name on it. Did your dad sneak here early to leave you this? Was it your birthday? No, that already passed.

You carefully opened the piece of paper and it revealed black printed letter. It read:

______,

I've never seen your smile out of all the years we've been attending school together. You look so beautiful when I pass you in the halls but you always have the face of someone who dreads this place. I don't blame you. You grinned at that. Anyway, I always find you running through my mind and a huge part of me wants to approach you but I don't want you to shoo me away or think it's a joke. I've admired you from a distance for so many years and you just become better with age. It's halfway through our last year of high school and I feel it's time I stepped out and said something. You're the most beautiful girl I've ever seen and I want to get to know you. Please meet me on the roof during lunch. Once you seem who I am, you have to promise me that you won't run away, think it's a joke, or laugh at me. It took me a lot of courage to write this and manage to slip it into your locker. I don't care if the feelings aren't mutual, I just want to be your friend and see your smile for the first time.

With love,

Your long-term secret admirer.

Your glanced around to see if maybe whoever left this, was watching you but no one in particular stood out. You folded the note up carefully and stuck it into your pocket. You twirled the rose in between your fingers. A secret admirer, huh? Butterflies were flipping the hell out in your stomach and your cheeks were extremely hot. Were you going to pass out? This was too much all at once. Anxiousness was going to eat you alive. You pondered on every boy you had a class with and though about how long you've been attending the same school as them. Nobody really stuck out in your mind.

Throughout class, it was like you weren't even there. (As opposed to the usual? Not really) But even more so than usual. Your mind was completely preoccupied with bigger issues than solving pi equations. The guy warned to run away, think it's a joke, or laugh. Who could it possibly be for you to assume those things? As lunch time approached, your anxiety shot through the roof.

The bell rang so the moment of truth was about to hit you in the face. You headed straight to the roof with sweaty hands, a pounding heart, and most likely an unattractive expression. You halted in front of the doors. The boy who had had a crush on you for years supposedly, was behind these doors. Quite possibly your future boyfriend as well. The thought has you busting through the doors to be greeted by no one. The roof was completely empty. Not another soul was here.

Disappointment immediately erased the anxiety. You should've known it was too good to be true. No one really had feelings for you. Goddamn it, people are so shitty. You turned to leave but the doors opened and someone joined you. His back was turned as he shut the doors. You're anxiety returned at full blast.

He turned and your eyes widened. He froze as did you. Silence and question hung in the air. No, this couldn't be real. He couldn't be the one who had admired you. There was no way in history. Things like this don;t happen in real life.

He rubbed his neck awkwardly with a small smile. "Ah, you beat me here."

"C-Changjo?" You question quietly.

He nodded. "Please don't do anything that I warned you about in the letter. My feelings are real, please take them into consideration."

He bit his lip and gazed at you with those beautiful eyes. His red hair stood out against the uniform and it looked great. He looked great. Shock was still present in you so you slowly took a couple steps towards him. You averted your gaze to his chest so he wouldn't see your reddening face.

"You've liked me all this time?" You asked.

"Yes. Since middle school and never have I once seen you smile. I've admired your beauty every day since then and I'm just waiting to see this one thing. If you don't feel the same way, fine. Just let me see your beautiful smile, jebal." He placed a finger underneath your chin so you'd look up at him.

You bit your lip. You couldn't spontaneously whip out an authentic smile. You were under pressure and you didn't know what to do. But then, an extremely cheesy idea popped into your head but you were positive you'd smile.

"Kiss me," you whispered.

He leaned in with no hesitation and gave you a soft kiss. You cupped his face, pulling him closer and deepening the kiss. Butterflies and a shock ran through you. This is what you had bee craving for what seemed like an eternity. Love had encountered you in this hellish place.

You pulled away and a wide smile found it's way onto your face. He smiled and began to laugh in joy. He kissed you again while laughing and wrapped his arms around your waist. You laughed along with him and you felt legitimately happy which hadn't happened in a while.

"______?"

You pulled away from his embrace. "Hmm?"

He locked eyes with you. "Would you be my girlfriend?"

You smiled again and his eyes brightened. "I'd love to be your girlfriend, Changjo." He grinned proudly and returned his lips to yours.

And that concludes your miraculous love story. Now since he was a high school sweetheart, did you end up murdered, cheated on, or did he leave you after having fall with him? For you, none of the above.

He stuck by your side throughout high school, college, and then he proposed to you. He made you the happiest girl on the entire planet.

Love.

The thought made you smile.
