You know how in movies and books, the main character always has a super embarrassing moment that you doubt even happens in real life? Well, you were first hand in discovering that those events do happen. Although, you couldn't really say it was the worst thing ever happen to you because there was a beautiful outcome.
Basically, it started off with you awkwardly shoving your books and other unnecessary school supplies in your backpack. The bag was getting heavier and heavier in your grip and finally, it slipped out of your hands and landed with a thud on the ground as all your materials scattered around it. You sighed and internally screamed. You glanced around shyly at the people around you to make sure you were being stared at. People had a knack for just watching and not helping, jerks.
You kneeled down to retrieve your items when you saw a masculine hand gathering your items as well. Your eyes flicked up through your hair, only to widen and freeze. The beautiful being in front of you flashed you a pearly white smile. "I hope you don't mind that I help."
You shook your head, probably a little to fast for the norm. U-Uh, ani. Gomawa..." Your hands shakily reached for your fallen possessions but Changjo beat you to collecting them. He neatly placed the supplies in your bag and handed it to you.
"There you go," he smiled gorgeously again.
You bowed you head politely and shyly. "G-Gomawa..."
He stood up along with you. "You're Kenzie, right? I'm Changjo."
You nodded once. Psht, you already knew that. You'd had a crush on him since junior high. He was so adorable back then and now, he was a man. A stunning, sexy, kind, and generous man. And you were...you.
It was silent for a moment between you two. Your hands were still shaking and you refused to make direct eye contact otherwise you'd probably make a fool of yourself. You waited for him to depart but he remained in place.
"Yah, Kenzie? Would you like to go to a coffee shop with me this weekend? On a date?"
There was no way you could avoid eye contact then. Your eyes were directed at his now and they were definitely wide. "What? M-Me?
He chuckled and nodded. "I'd like to get to know you. You seem like a really sweet girl." He gave you another killer smile. You swear, he was literally going to murder you with that. Oddly, that wouldn't be so bad,
"Um, I'd love to, yeah." You gave a shy smile yourself.
"Cool, can I have your number then?" He held his phone out for you and you nervously reached for it, somehow managing to enter your number. He bowed his head politely. "See you Saturday." With that, he was gone. You took a deep breath and leaned up against your locked, taking in the situation. You were going on a date with a guy you had a crush on for years. He noticed you. He made the move. You could die of happiness.
Saturday rolled around faster than you expected and your anxiety hit harder than you expected. You were standing in front of the coffee shop doors, awaiting him. He had said to meet up at 12:30 but you decided to get here early for whatever reason. This was your first date. It had to go well, or so you thought.
"Kenzie!" You heard. You turned to see Changjo walking towards you with his killer smile. You couldn't help but smile yourself. He led you into the shop and told you to take a seat anywhere you'd like while he ordered. You decided to settle yourself in the corner where no one could stare. You fiddled with your fingers as you pondered what the date would turn out to be like.
He returned to the table not too long after, placing a hot chocolate in front of you as well as himself. He took the seat across from you and settled in comfortably. He smiled at you. "You know, you've been really quiet ever since middle school."
You averted your eyes to the warm drink in your hands. "Yeah, I'm not one to keep a conversation with. I just kind of blabber."
He shrugged. "I don't mind. I'd like to hear about you."
Your heart fluttered as he said the last word. Your cheeks grew warm. You quickly glanced up at him and something caught your eye. He had a small leaf in his hair. "Oh, uh...hold on." You stood up and leaned over the table, attempting to remove the leaf but that was a giant mistake. As you reached over, you smacked his hot chocolate and the drink split all over his white shirt. You gasped and covered your mouth. Other people had stopped talking and were now staring.
His mouth was agape and he stood up as he stared at his now brown shirt. You quickly retrieved your belongings. "Mianhae! Mianhae! I was only trying to get something out of your hair." You reached into your wallet and left some money for the drinks You bowed politely and tears brimmed your eyes. "Mianhae! Mianhae!" You scurried out of the shop and booked it home. You had never been so embarrassed and ashamed in your entire life. You had just ruined your chances of ever dating the guy you liked for so long.
You wiped your pitiful tears as you made your way home. How could ever face him again? You hoped you wouldn't run into him at school. You didn't have any classes with him after all...
On Monday, all that would run through your mind was the coffee sop incident. You wanted to hide your face in a paper bag and never be seen by him. He probably hated you. You ruined his perfectly good white shirt.
You were at your locker once again, fumbling to get your materials in and out of your locker when you felt a tap on your shoulder. You turned to be face exactly what you didn't want. Changjo. You quickly looked away. Anywhere but directly at him.
"Why'd you run away on Saturday?"
You were confused at his question. It was pretty obvious why you ran away...
You heard him chuckle. "I'd like a re-do. Go on another date with me and we'll pretend the first one didn't even happen. I'd really like to get to know you,Kenzie."
Your heart skipped a beat as he said your name. "Are you sure? I on't want to mess it up again..."
"We could go somewhere else. Don't worry. I'll give you as many chances as you need." He smiled sweetly at you.
You flushed and bit your lip. "Okay. Yeah, gomawa."
That weekend, you guys ended up relaxing at his house. You laid out by the poolside in the warm sun and he jumped in and yelled like a little boy. He invited some of his friends as well with whom you got along with really well. From then on, you were known as Changjo's girlfriend which you have wanted for years.
So yeah, you couldn't say it was the worst incident to happen to you because it ended in your happiness. You were actually thankful you ended up ruining his nice white shirt that day.
