Chapter 9

Narrators POV -

Simone had fully unpacked all her belongings, and was now sitting on her bed, playing with Tao, who was trying to eat a sting Simone had

"Simone, I think Norberta is in the back, want to go see her?" Charlie asked, his head poking up a little from on the stairs

"Yes! Hold on Tao, I will be right back"

Simone hopped of her bed, letting Tao have the string, to which he gave a happy meow to, walking down the stairs, she was met by Charlie who led her to the front door

"I heard heavy foot steps when I was making some tea, if it is Norberta she would be in the woods" Charlie said, as he put on his boots, Simone did the same

"Why would she be in the woods?" Simone asked, standing up from tying her shoes

"She prefers the shade from the trees, some times she will come out in the fields, but that is when i bribe her with rats" Charlie laughed, opening the door for Simone

They walked off the perch and headed over to the side of the house were Charlie normally saw Norberta at

"I will go check in the woods, if it is her, don't go immediately up to her, she is particular about the people that can get close to her"

Charlie headed of towards the woods, leaving Simone at the side of the cabin

But soon enough, Charlie came out of the brush, with a dragon hot on his trail

Seeing a dragon up close was a first for Simone, so she just stood there in aww, looking at Norberta

Charlie stoped running and let the dragon tackle him to the ground, scaring Simone a little

but all Norberta did was nuzzle her head against Charlies and let out a few puff of smoke, a clear sign that Norberta missed Charlie

"Ok, ok" Charlie laughed "get of you" he shoved the dragon off him, which required some muscle

"Wanna come join the party?" Charlie asked Simone, as Norberta kept walking around Charlie, trying to contain all her excited to see her handler

"Uh- er..... ok" Simone stuttered

Simone walked over to Norberta slowly not wanting to scare the dragon, but Norberta payed no attention, her eyes set on Charlie, but Charlie was watching Simone

Once Simone got close, Norberta took noticed and puffed a little smoke, a clear warning.

but Simone kept walking in the dragons direction, Norbert surprisingly took a step towards Simone

"Huh" Charlie mumbled, walking backwards

As Simone kept walking, So did Norberta

Simone was able to get face t face with Norberta, lifting her hand, Simone slowly put it on Norberta snout, to which the dragon lend her head into Simones hand

"Wow, she has never acted like this" Kal shocked the 2 people and dragon

"Holy shit" Simone said under her breath, her hand still on Norberta nose

"Ready for the grand tour!" Kal exclaimed, scaring Norberta, so the dragon lifted her head and walked back into the forest

"Told you she was sassy" Charlie said to Simone "see you guys later!" With that he walked off Norberta did

"Yeah, were to first!" Simone cheered, this was the most exciting day of her life

"Let's start with the nesting box"

"So how many dragons are here?" Simone asked, as Kal walked her to the mess hall for dinner

"Well, without the drifters,we have about 9 permanent elders and with the up coming hatchlings we will have 12 babies and 7 younglings, so 28 dragons!" Kal exclaimed

(Drifters are dragons that come and go out of the sanctuary)

"When do you think the eggs will hatch?"

"the Antipodean Opaleye should hatch anyway day now, and we already had some Common Welsh Greens hatch, and the others should hatch in about 2-5 days-"

"Daddy!" A little boy yelled as Kal and Simone neared the mess hall

"Bentley! My boy!" Kal exclaimed, picking up Bentley and sinning him around "Bentley, this is Simone, she going to start working with Charlie"

"Hi" Bentley said shyly, tucking his head into Kal's shoulder

"He's just a little shy" Kal laughed, but turning his head to look at Bentley "hey, bud, its ok, she is very nice"

Kal whispered something else to Bentley but Simone didn't hear his words, it seemed to work, as Bentley jump out of Kal's arms, grabbed Simones hand and led her to the table

"Hi! I am Bentley Joven"

"Hey Bentley, I am Simone Andrews" she laughed a little at the boys sudden boldness

"Have you met any dragons yet?!"

"Yeah I have met a couple actually"

This continued until dinner was served onto the table, Bentley kept asking Simone more and more about dragons, until Kal came and that seemed to slow the questions.

Charlie came a little after Simone, but did not sit near her, as she already sitting with Bentley, he watched as Bentley fired questions at Simone but she answered best to her ability, a little later Morgan showed up

"Hey, Charlie?" Morgan asked sitting down next to hid friend

"Yeah"

"Is Simone with anyone or....." Morgan asked, he watched as his friends face went beat red and harden into a not so pleased look

"Why?"

"Well, you seem pretty interested"

Charlies face went even more red, if that was even possible

"What? Were did you get that?" Charlies questioned

"Oh i don't know, maybe that you have been starring at her for the whole time you have been at he table, and the fact you got all mad when I asked if she was available" Morgan asked

"Oh shut up" Charlie laughed, finishing the food on his plate

"Charlie?" A little voice called, looking up he saw Bentley sitting across from him

"Yeah Ben" Charlie smiled

"I like Simone, shes nice" Bentley smiled

"Yeah, she is"

"Are you to dating?"

"No, why?"

"Not yet" Mumbled Morgan

"Bentley, bed time, lets go!" Kal called Bentley

"Charlie, help, I don' want to go to bed!" Bentley called out but Kal had already threw him over his shoulder

"Good night to all, sleep well!" Kal yelled as he made way to his cabin, at this time Micheal came and sat down next to Simone

"Hey, I am Tony, you must be the new Dragonologist?"

"Yeah I am, I'm Simone" she smiled

"How do you like it so far?"

"Well, today was just the tour, this place is amazing"

"Oh, it gets way better, once the eggs hatch, ooh it will be a nightmare.. but fun"

"That sounds interesting" Simone laughed,

" it is, trust me " Tony joined Simone

Tony and Simone talked for the rest of dinner

While they talked, Charlie watched in anger but mostly jealousy
