Fitz's POV

"We brought treats!" Sophie grinned, her blond hair billowing around her face. Edaline and Grady were behind her, both carrying things I assumed humans used for Christmas.

Sophie had told us about Christmas, but I still didn't really get it. Baking cookies, that was fine (we were replacing them with custard bursts), and exchanging gifts, but why the tree? And why decorate it?

After Sophie mentioned Christmas one day, we decided we would get together and celebrate. We were doing it at Everglen, because it was the biggest house. If we decided to do it again next year, it would be at Havenfield, then Rimeshire, then Solreef, and so on.

"Thanks! Hello, Grady, hello Eadli-" I greeted them

"Don't come upstairs!" Biana shouted from inside. "I'm trying to wrap your gift, Sophie!"

I chuckled. Biana had been determined to wrap all of the gifts(except for the ones for her) because she didn't trust anyone else to make them look pretty. I tried to tell her it didn't matter, as we would take the wrapping paper off anyway, but she didn't care.

Sophie smiled wider. I could tell she was happy we were embracing some human things she liked. "I can see Biana has gotten in the Christmas spirit."

"Definitely," I agreed. "She wants to put glitter on the tree."

Sophie giggled. "Well, makeovers are her specialty."

"Oh! Come on in," I said, stepping out of the way.

"Where should we put this Christmas stuff?" Grady asked.

I looked at Sophie. I wasn't sure if there was a certain place things were supposed to go, if it was like a tradition or something.

"Custard bursts and mallowmelt should go in the kitchen," she said. "And the tree should go in the room with the most places to sit, then the presents go under it."

"That'd be the living room," I said. "I'll show you where it is."

After finding a place in the living room for the tree, Edaline put the gifts she'd gotten for my parents under it. Then we took the treats to the kitchen, where Biana had come down the stairs for sweets.

"Hey, Sophie. Hi, Grady, hi, Edaline," Biana said, balancing three gifts on her leg. "I just finished your gift, Linh's gift, and Marella's, so now I just have Wylie's. Do you know what his favorite color is?"

"Rainbow," I answered. I wasn't completely sure, but being gay and a flasher, it seemed kind of likely.

"I'll be back for mallowmelt," Biana called, going to put more presents under the tree.

Edaline cut out pieces of mallowmelt for all of us and we tapped them together. "Cheers!"
