A KotLC Christmas

Chapter 2

The picture at the top is a diorama I made for an art class I take. It's supposed to be the cover of Flashback. Not relevant to anything, just thought I'd share it with y'all!

Keefe's POV

"When are you coming back?" Dad of the Year yelled as I began to open the door.

"I told you!" I yelled back.

"No, you didn't!"

"Yes, I did! Remember and you'll figure it out!" I slammed the door and pulled out my leaping crystal to Solreef, holding my gift for Tam under the other arm. Foster didn't want us to go to too much trouble, so we only got presents for the people we were closest to. So I got one for my boyfriend, of course.

I needed to get Tam and Linh, they didn't have a way to get to Everglen. Actually, Tiergan did, but he was on some Black Swan mission.

I held my crystal up to the sun and stepped into the beam of light that came from it. I appeared in front of Solreef, where Tam came down the very tall, very steep, staircase to greet me.

I dropped the gift and ran to him. We hadn't seen each other in a long time because Lord Pretentious didn't want me dating a Shade. He wasn't homophobic (which was a surprise), but he didn't like me seeing a former Neverseen member, no matter how many times I explained to him Tam wasn't really part of the Neverseen. I guessed it was kind of nice, in some way? He didn't want my love life to have the same tragic end?

We hugged and I gave him a quick kiss, then picked him up and spun around.

"Keefe! Put me down!" Tam protested, but he was laughing.

"As you wish." I set him down on the ground and put my arm around his shoulders. "Where's Linh?"

"Trying to find a way to bring Princess Purryfins with us," Tam replied, smiling. I hadn't seen him this happy in a while. I didn't read his emotions; I didn't have to to see how happy he was. I studied him, trying to remember the last time he was smiling like that.

He noticed me staring. "What? Is there something on my face?"

I shook my head. "Nothing. Just that you look even prettier than I last saw you."

Tam blushed. "Shut up."

"Awww," Linh cooed from the stairs. There was a bubble of water floating above her, in which her murcat, Princess Purryfins, was swimming around. "I'm so glad you guys finally got together! I'm not sure how many more not-so-subtle glances at each other I could take."

Tam rolled his eyes. "Like you and Marella were any different."

"At least we could come up with an excuse every time," Linh said. She took Tam's hand and I fumbled for my leaping crystal.
