🥰 I hope you will enjoy reading this. Also, I am going to set this story in the year 2027 🥰
She was about as inconspicuous as any sixteen-year-old traveling alone could be, her waist-length blonde hair done up in a pristine bun, she was more put together than most of the boarding passengers; who would have known that one hundred seventeen dollars was all you needed to travel across three state borders? Katherine sat on her last transfer while attempting to ignore the pungent odors that assailed her nose, because in truth that was not the most disturbing thing she had overlooked while on this conveyance; she was certain she had seen two people copulating as every other passenger on the bus slept, unfortunately, that was not a sight she was able to un-see; she was now both deeply disturbed and disgusted.
It was three in the morning when she arrived, she prayed silently that the bus driver did not notice her get off without the family she had used to blend in with while she boarded. She had to take a taxi into town, which is the main reason she stayed awake so she could notify them when she was close to the bus station. Standing and waiting for their arrival in the early hours of the morning seemed dangerous and insensible.
She did not plan much outside of getting here; she figured everything else could be sorted once she made it.
When the taxi driver dropped her off where she lived when she was a bit younger than she is now, she thanked and tipped him before walking up the tree extravagant steps that led to her front door. Though it was dark, and she could not see much she could have walked up to this door in her sleep; Katherine dreamed of this day, when she would return home, she hated living in the city with the man who had adopted her.
Something seemed off about him.
The year before, she opened her locker at school and found an envelope with her name written beautifully on it, inside was a key. A key to the house she dreamt of but thought she would never again see in her lifetime, and a note: To our dearest daughter, that this place will always be your home. That day, she cried because the last time she received anything from her parents was on her eighth birthday, and that was the same day they died. She clung to the memory of her parents, not wanting to forget their voices or their faces- they were the only family she had.
Her parents had left her everything and they were careful not to allow anyone other than their daughter access to their fortune, in fact, they had taken the liberty to finalize their will the moment they were told by doctors they would have a daughter.
Katherine, however, was unaware of the wealth she had inherited.
Exhaling, she put the key in the lock and unlocked it. The lights turned on automatically when she stepped into the foyer, "front door," the alarm announced, it took a moment for her eyes to adjust the new light she pulled her suitcase inside as she shut the door. At the top of the stairs, there was a family portrait of her and her parents; her mom had raven black hair that fell to her waist, a heart-shaped face, just like her own, with the same almond-shaped (green) eyes a button nose and plump bow-shaped lips (she had all her mothers' facial features) while her father had ice blonde hair, a rectangular face, blue almond-shaped eyes, a strong nose, and full lips ( She had father's hair and his blue eyes). She stared at the picture for some time mesmerized by how handsome her parents were and how much she resembled her mother.
fatigue caught up to her and she scaled the stairs, turning right where they parted to get a shower and go to bed. She scrubbed herself clean, brushed her teeth and applied a hydrating face mask before walking into her bedroom, plopping herself onto her bed and falling asleep.
The exhaustion she felt was so strong that she did not hear the commotion at five in the morning, in fact, she slept through it all.
It was brought to the attention of the local inhabitants that at three in the morning someone who resembled the late Mr. Chamberlyn's' late wife was driven onto his territory in the dead of night, and, upon further investigation, they deduced that it must have been their daughter because only she could come into the residence seemly undetected. They decided to post patrols around her property to keep her safe out of loyalty to her late father and mother who they believed they failed to protect.

After her shower the next morning, she put on a black tank top some short blue jeans a large mint sweater, and a pair of white converses; made a quick list of things she would need to survive living alone before going into the garage to grab a set of keys and a car to go into town with. Katherine did not like to drive small cars, so she took the keys to the 2019 navigator that her father had given to her mother as a gift. Both the garage and gate remote were already in the car and the gas tank was still full.
She pulled out of the garage and made sure to close it before driving out to the gate and opening it, she had to use the GPS on her phone because she did not remember her way around. Her first stop was to a diner for some breakfast because she was so hungry, she could eat a horse and chase the rider, she could not make it to the diner fast enough.
When she finally made it and sat down to order the waitress thought she was found somewhere in starvation she ordered so much food and ate it all... everyone was looking at her and she didn't even notice as she sipped on her orange juice dancing in her seat, "well I'll be darned," she heard a man's voice that pulled her out of her little world, "here I thought the football team was playing hooky." she looked up and saw a man dressed in a chefs uniform looking at her eyes full of bewilderment his thick country accent reminded her of the way her father spoke. She smiled at him and took another sip of her orange juice, and he smiled back before returning to the kitchen.
After paying for her meal, she went back out to the car and drove to the grocery store. She filled up the cart with things that she liked and picked up a few essentials. She spent an hour in the store not because she did not find everything in the first 30 minutes, it was more out of habit. She would pick something up and put it back down walking through the miscellaneous aisles trying to remember if there was anything she had forgotten.
She checked out her items and then went out into the parking lot to load them into her car. When she arrived home, she cleaned and sanitized the fridge and her groceries before organizing everything in it. One could never be too sanitary after 2019.
Now, she needed a job.
