Uraraka's POV
I couldn't move, why couldn't I move! The way her hair sprawled out as she fell away from me, did they push her or did she go on her own accord? Everything just seemed to happen in slow motion, a small smirk on her lips as she got further away - what did she know? She seemed to happy to be dying but what else was there to do? She had no magic and no way to save herself?
As soon as I saw her hit the water's surface, I sprinted away down the nearest way to the edge of the water with the werewolves right behind me "Suzuki!" My eyes searched the water but she was no where to be seen, Suzuki wasn't on the rocks or in nearby tides...she was gone, just like that, vanished into the night without a trace?
The next thing I knew, Bakugo had stripped his top half and dove off nearby rocks into the crashing water "Bakugo! Wait!" And then he was gone too, my feet climbed up onto the shards of stone trying to see where my two friends had disappeared to. It was impossible to see with no light and the constant movement of the sea...what was he thinking?!
Kiri was just as confused as I was, but he'd just lost his boyfriend instead of just a companion - I really felt for him, to see his lover dive into danger for someone else knowing Bakugo kept to himself, it must've been difficult. For anyone else, his only response would've been 'good riddance', so why was it different for our dear departed witch?
"Quick, She's freezing" after awhile, he surfaced above the water with someone in his arms clutching to his chest. Was that Suzuki? It couldn't of been! From the height she fell without power, there's no way she could've survived! But there she was, in his arms "She's alive but barely" Bakugo held her close like a small child, like she was his...
Alive wasn't one of the things she looked, her hair covered the ears she'd previously shown me so the other two hadn't worked it out, but it wouldn't be long before they caught the scent of a wet dog that wasn't Bakugo "Of course, how hadn't I noticed before?! The power dampener fell off! She had a few seconds of pure moonlight to save herself! Oh Suzuki, you genius!"
We couldn't go back to the coven with someone who was supposed to be dead, so where could we go? We had no choice but to go back the the wolves' place. What i hadn't expected was a cave with a sealed off entrance, it was well hidden so I knew she'd be safe here but how would they stop her from leaving "Relax, this is our permanent place, if she runs - the pack camps will grab her"
Bakugo laid her on the bed before lifting the covers over her body "Here, she'll want this" I handed Kirishima her witch hat hurriedly, I'd been clutching it ever since she gave it to me back in the cell - normally, she'd never give up that hat but she'd put it in my hand so freely...she really thought I wouldn't come? Or maybe she hoped I wouldn't? She was so complex
"Why'd she take the fall for us? She hardly knew us" I plopped down beside her, there was so much we never talked about. The lines on her wrists, her secret identity as a wolf, the way she was so cold when I tried to ask her about her life before all this...did I even know her at all? I called her my 'friend' but in reality - I knew so little about her...not even her first name
"I think she saw something in you...something worth saving. So much that she'd sacrifice herself so you two would be okay, so I'd be okay" my hand brushed hers then my fingertips traced the raised flesh up her arms "I didn't even know her first name, I want to know more but most of the time - she's so cold and closed off"
Deep down I knew I couldn't stay here but I wanted to see her vermilion eyes flutter open, to be her comfort in a strange new location, I wanted her to know so many things that seemed so insignificant before - I wanted to ask her so many questions, just to hear her voice and know that Suzuki would be okay!
After realising that there would be suspicion if I didn't return to the coven and Suzuki's body was missing - they'd add two and two together then she'd be 'wanted' again, there was no guarantee we'd be able to save her next time...
But I wasn't ready to let go just yet...
