Moonlit hat

Today
It's pretty much all people talked about since that night, the 'disappearance of class 1A, 1B and the three third years' even though that mist changed our whole world, we didn't know that at the time so we fled into hiding.

The mist saved me but I still had the scars to show what I tried before it hit, it seemed like we'd all been Halloween-ified considering I was a witch and so were a few other girls from our classes.

Hatsume was some sort of pixie but I liked to keep to myself, in fact - she didn't know I was alive. As far as she was concerned, her best friend died in her arms!

I'd joined Uraraka's coven but it was clear I wasn't all that liked. I didn't blame them, I didn't like me all that much either but I was what I was...an abomination.

Half wolf, half witch - everyone called me the 'moon witch' because I never let myself out in the moonlight due to being part wolf so things would get heated and I can't allow people to see that side of me

"They'll love you!" somehow Uraraka had convinced me to drop her off at her wolf friend's area, the downside to this is if I didn't get out of there quick enough, they'd be able to tell what I was by scent - I wasn't big on travel either since it meant I met more people who wouldn't like me

"No one else has" I muttered under my breath thanking that she hadn't heard me or else I'd be floating. My hands gripped the sides of my witch hat pulling it down further onto my head, my plan for today's as just to practice spells and home remedies like normal witches did

"Akina, you look nervous?" I shook my head smiling and twirling around, she always liked the 'happy' act. It wasn't fake at first but the more times I got called an 'abomination', the more false it became but Uraraka didn't need to know that

"No way! As long as they don't bite" I could already hear two new heartbeats rise in the distance proving that the two wolves knew we were here. I would tell Uraraka but that would also tell her I was part canine so I went at her pace

"Hey Bakugo!" The brunette dragged me by the hand happily towards the blonde and the redhead, I guessed they were originally from class 1A but there was nothing to signify that fact except for seeing their faces walking from the classroom

"...Uraraka, and who's the extra?!" I tipped my hat at the two wolves "No one, just an escort" Uraraka hugged me tightly "Nooo! Please stay?" I pointed up with my arms pinned to my side "can't. Moon witch, moon will be out soon"

Her head glanced up at the sky "but you promised!" I nodded "that was before I realised how slow you walked and how far it would be, sorry Uraraka" she let me go reluctantly before the blonde wolf got a lot closer "why do you smell like a wolf?"

He went to lift my hat but I slapped his hand away and tugged it down "Hey! Don't touch the hat! Look, I have a friend who's a wolf, we hung out today"

Uraraka gave me a confused look "but we hung out all day today?" I gave her the 'are you serious right now?!' look then turned back to the blonde who was now inches away from my face causing me to back up

"I don't know where you're getting the whole 'wolf smell' thing from but knock it off, one of these days someone's gonna get hurt" of course I knew where he was getting it from, I could smell it too "I'm a moon witch, the job involves body part and...some are wolf"

Everyone already believed the myth that necromancy was involved in moon witches' jobs so why not spread the rumour if it was already practically true? The real truth was that I wouldn't touch black magic or necromancy if I was surrounded by the world's best witches in the world!

I skipped away into the night before they could trail after me. I didn't need to be reminded of how much of a freakshow I was, everyday my mind told me to throw myself off a cliff or to just end it. I wasn't a good human and I'm no better as a witch so why did I keep trying?

I reached the network of treehouses but I didn't need to reach my home to see the rotten vegetables splattered on the outside and useless hexes that only someone who studied black magic would know. Typical.

There was circle of hooded witches on the floor trying to put up a protection spell, not necessarily against me but against something bigger. I wandered over to the spiral staircase which was encased in a unnaturally thick tree and started my ascent

As much as this place was where I was in most danger, it was also where I was safest. The only danger here was powerful witches who protected their own from other creatures within their borders but I was also counted as something other than a witch which made it dangerous and safe at the same time

There wasn't much really to do so I just took a bath and hoped into bed ready to do some more spells tomorrow
