"Elena, you totally ditched me. In a graveyard. Not cool." I groaned, slamming my locker shut and turning towards her.

"I know... I'm so sorry. The fog freaked me out and I just kind of ran." She sighed and crossed her arms.

"Not to mention, when I got home this creepy bird was in my house."

"Liv, hey."

"Uh- Stefan. Hey." I smiled shyly, and captured his eyes with mine.

"Are you going to this party tonight?" He cocked his head to the side, "Caroline won't leave me alone about it and I figured it'd be nice to see if I'd have someone to talk to." He rubbed the back of his neck. "Actually, I am," I smiled, "Caroline would kill me if I didn't show."

"Yes, I would," Care stated, tapping on my shoulder, "And wear something cute. Please?"

"When do I not?"

She squealed, "I can't wait. I'll see you three there!"

--

"This place is so crowded." I groaned, swirling my cup around.

"It is a party Liv." Bonnie chuckled, taking a drink. "We promised Caroline we'd come. Plus, you get to see a certain Salvatore tonight," Elena grinned and playfully shoved me. "Oh shush." I smirked, taking another swig of my drink. "Speak of the devil," Bonnie trailed off.

"Stefan, hey!" I greeted, meeting those green eyes of his, "I'm glad you made it."

"We're going to go find Care. Don't do anything I wouldn't do," Elena winked and dragged Bonnie away.

"Of course," I rolled my eyes as Stefan chuckled. "Want to take a walk?" He suggested. "This not your scene either?"

"Not exactly. More of the loner, brooding type."

"After you," I smiled and gulped the last of my drink.

--

"So what's your story?" Stefan asks after finding a place on a bridge to sit, a ways away from the party.

"Not much to tell," I shrugged, looking at the ground. "Born and raised here. Dad is out of the picture, Mom works most of the time or is out of town on business. My brother passed a few years ago. Elena, Caroline, and Bonnie have been my rocks since I met them. Mostly a homebody but I cheer at school. Care talked me into it," I chuckled.

"What happened to your brother? If you don't mind me asking."

"Um... Hiking accident. We think. They never found the body. It's been four years."

"I'm sorry-"
