Dear Harry,

We found a doctor that thinks he can help. There is going to be a lot of surgeries though. So much for a normal senior year.

--

You decided to go to the community college this fall. I'm happy for you. You'll be close to home and you're going to college. Win-win situation for me. And you, of course.

--

We talked about my senior year and how I wanted it to be normal. You surprised me by taking me out to a fancy dinner.

You said it was one step to being normal.

I was just glad I got to get out of bed. The doctor has been telling me to rest, eat healthy foods, and get all the nutrition I can before my first surgery. He said that being in bed all the time won't help so I should at least be nutritious.

Honestly, I'm grateful you're here for me.

I'm really scared to go into surgery.

--

Evelyn apologized to me.

She said she was sorry for ignoring me.

She was scared. I get it, I am too.

We talked and cried for a solid three hours. You probably would have called me a cry baby. But that's okay. I'm happy Evelyn is talking to me again.

You said something to her, didn't you?

--

You and Evelyn have been stuck to my hip since I told you my first surgery was in August. But, one thing, if you're going to be with me 24/7, take a bath or something.

--

Do you think that I will be able to feel anything when I'm in surgery? Mom said no, I'll be completely knocked out but I might have a head ache when I wake up.

If I wake up that is.

This doctor seems to know what he's doing, so maybe I'll be able to live a long, healthy life.

I'll have a nice house. A nice job. I'll be able to have children, watch them grow up, hold my grandchildren.

I'll be cured.

--

We've been praying that the surgery will go well. That's really all we can do. Hope and pray.

Goodnight, Harry.
