High school years

Chapter 8

Carina couldn't sleep, she was wide awake in bed.

"Andrea? Bambino are you awake?" She asked.

It was currently 5:00am she had to be up for school soon.

"Hmmm Carina it's so early" Andrea groaned turning around and sitting up on the matrace.

"could you get in?" She asked pulling the cover aside to make room for her brother.

"Sì" he replied sleep consumed the teen but he still managed to smile at Carina as he got into the bed next to her.

"Grazie" the brunette replied.

"What's up Carina?" He asked looking at his sister concerned.

"Maya she- she um... gets hit" she stuttered her words struggling to force the tears away as she continued to speak about Maya.

"She what! Who hits her?" He asked astonished by what he was hearing.

"Her father... I went round her house last week to "study" she replied earning a giggle from both of them

"and then she made me leave because her dad was home early. I was about to leave her back garden but then I heard shouting and whimpering" she added looking down at her hands fiddling with them as she spoke.

"Carina... I'm so sorry you had to witness this" he sympathised as he wrapped his arm around Carinas shoulder letting her cry on his shoulder.

"And now I don't know what to do. if I tell anyone she could hate me, but if I don't he'll just continue to hurt her" she sniffles wiping her teary eyes with her shirt sleeve.

"Maybe before you do anything about this, try and talk to her about it" Andrew responded wanting to bbt helpful in this situation.

"Ok Sì I'll try that, thank you" Carina responded loving her brother for being there.

"No problem it's what big brothers are for" he replied smirking at the Italian as she slapped his arm softly.

"you're older by two minutes!" She said rolling her eyes but giggling at her brother.

After they both got dressed and ate their breakfast both siblings made their way to school.

"Good luck with Maya I have Chemistry, so I'll see you at lunch or after school" Andrew told his sister before running off to meet up to Henry.

"Ciao" she yelled down the hallway.

Once the brunette made her way into the class room she immediately spotted the blonde with her head down on the desk arms covering her beautiful face.

"Hi Bella" she whispered before sitting down next to the blonde

"hi" she replied lighting up when she saw the brunette.

"I'm guessing you know?" She asked looking Carina right in the eyes.

"Sì Bella why didn't you tell me sooner?" She asked as her eyes glanced over the cuts and bruises that covered Maya's soft pale skin.

"Because we've only just met, and I didn't know if I could" she said as a tear escaped and rolled down her cheeks.

"Oh no don't cry" she said wiping the stray tear away.

"It sucks... I go home and I'm terrified, my younger brother Mason you've met him before... I try to protect him but it's not him he wants" she said stoping because she didn't want to full on sob in a class full of kids.

"Well are you going to tell someone?" She asked not knowing what the blonde wanted to do.

"no I can't we don't have anyone else, my mum died..." she replied looking down at the floor.
