Maya struggled with this day immensely.
She had dealt with not having a mother for almost 16 years, she missed her all the time, but this day in particular would bring back old memories she held onto.
Her mum was trapped in the relationship with her father.
They were unhappy.
The both of them.
Her never once laid a finger on her however.
Just me.
Apparently it's a good parenting technique.
However now that she was in a relationship with Carina she wanted to be excited for the brunette when she was telling her about gifts and plans for her mother.
Like now.
Carina was talking to Maya about what her and Andrew had planned and as much as Maya wanted to smile, to be happy for her girlfriend, she couldn't find it in her.
"Bambini, you're sat right next to me yet you seem so far away" Carina moved closer to the blonde, placing her hand on her thigh.
Maya had told Carina about her mother before, but it made sense if she didn't remember.
"Ah you're missing your mama" Maya looked up from her shoes and nodded her head.
Slightly surprised Carina managed to figure it out on her own.
"She would have loved you" Maya smiled at the thought of introducing Carina to her mother.
"I would have loved her too Bella" Carina put slight pressure against Maya's thigh with her hand that was situated there.
"Can you warn your mum? So no awkward conversations take place?" Carina nodded in response.
"Sì Bella of course"

"Ahh Bella I love it thank you" Carina smiled at her mother whilst she observed her presents.
Carina he gotten her mother a basket full of candles and scents for the house, as well as some gardening tools and seeds.
"And bello thank you" The older woman placed a kiss to both twins's cheeks.
They had both chipped in on buying the gift as well as Maya.
"Maya Bella I heard you chipped in" She nodded at the blonde knowing she didn't like to be touched or hugged.
Maya surprised her however when she stood closer to the brunette and enveloped her in a hug.
"Happy Mother's Day" The older woman hugged the small blonde closer to her and tighter.
She knew that Maya had lost her mother and knew it must be hard for her to watch Carina be with hers.
"Thank you Bella" she placed a kiss to Maya's cheek before they both leaned away from their embrace.

"Hey Mason" Maya was on the phone with her brother, she knew that he'd be at the shelter tonight but wanted to check in.
"Hey Maya" there was a moment of silence for a second before Mason spoke again.
"You miss her Don't you" Mason was only a baby when their mother died, so he couldn't remember her at all.
"I do, but she's resting now" Maya didn't want to start getting upset so she changed the subject.
"How's your day been anyway?" Maya asked as she leant against the wall outside of Carinas room.
"The usual" Maya nodded and spoke again.
"You need to come and visit" Mason smiled at Maya's words.
"I will at some point"
"Good" Maya was also smiling now.
"I better go" Mason walked back into the shelter welcomed by the warm air.
"Be safe" Maya didn't like the idea of Mason staying at the shelter but knew he had friends and loved it there.
"Bye Mase" Maya waited for her brother to say goodbye before hanging up the phone.
"Bella?" Maya placed her phone on Carinas bedside table.
She hadn't been back to her new apartment yet. She'd been with Carina ever since.
"Hmm?" Carina beckoned Maya over with her finger.
"Come here" Maya moved towards the brunette and laid between her legs resting her head on Carinas chest.
Carinas hands flew to blonde locks her fingers massaging Maya's scalp.
"I miss her" Carina already knew this, and so did Maya.
"I know you do, today has been a hard day" Maya released a shaky breath willing the tears to go away.
"It's alright to let it out Bella" one of Carinas hands moved to Maya's back, soothing her by drawing small circles against her back.
Maya didn't say anything, she just silently cried against Carinas chest.
The tears warm against her eyes.
"Shh it's alright" Maya latched onto her girlfriend not wanting her to go anywhere.
"I'm here you're ok" the hand in Maya's hand continued to weave through the blonde locks.
Maya had calmed down her breathing steadier and slower than it previously was.
"You ok?" Carina asked as her hands ran through her hair.
"I'm ok" Maya sniffed before lifting her head from Carinas chest and leaning towards Carinas face.
"I love you thank you I think I needed that"
Carina tilted her face and smiled at the blonde.
"My pleasure" Carina leaned towards Maya's face as well, their lips touching in a quiet sympathy.
"I love you too Bambini" it was Maya's chance to smile.
"I'm so lucky"
