(Y/N) AND ADORA sat side by side in the library surrounded by about a dozen curious sets of eyes that belonged to even more curious children.

"Alright, kids. You ready for the greatest love story of all time?" Adora grinned happily, resting a hand on (Y/n)'s knee. The kids cheered as loud as they could cheer in a library.

"Well, it's not so much of a love story," (Y/n) cuts through the cheering, nudging her wife who just chuckles. "Anywho, let's begin?"

Adora cockily clears her throat, rising from her spot on the bench with a book, "This is the story of how I died." Adora said dramatically, causing some of the kids to grasp to each other, shaking. Adora laughs, "Don't worry, this is actually a very fun story. And the truth is, it isn't even mine." Adora glances to her wife, sitting back down. "This is the story of a girl, named (Y/n). And it starts, with the sun. Now, once upon a time, a single drop of sunlight fell from the heavens."

"And from this small drop of sun, grew a magic, golden, flower." (Y/n) smiled down at the little children. "It had the ability to heal the sick, and injured."

"Well, centuries passed and a hop skip and a boat ride away there grew a kingdom." Adora smiled, then gesturing outside, "This very kingdom actually. The kingdom was ruled by the beloved King Micah and Queen Angella and the Princess Glimmer. And the Queen, well she was about to have a baby, and she got sick, really, sick." Adora said glumly, "She was running out of time. And that's when people usually start to look for a miracle. Or in this case, a magic golden flower."

"You see instead of sharing the Sun's gift, this woman," (Y/n) continued as three children scooted closer. "Mother Gothel, hoarded its healing power and used it to keep herself young for hundreds of years. And all she had to do was sing a special song."

"All right, you get the gist. She sings, she turns young." Adora deadpans, earning another shoulder nudge. "Creepy, right?"

"Anyway," (Y/n) cut in, "The guards found the magic flower and returned it to the kingdom. From there, the healers turned the flower into a magic brew. The magic of the golden flower, healed the queen."

"A healthy baby girl, a princess was born. With beautiful golden hair." Adora smiled, showing the picture of the baby to the kids. "I'll give you a hint. That's (Y/n)." Adora winks.

"And to celebrate her birth, the King and Queen launched a flying lantern into the sky." (Y/n) smiled, gesturing to the mural on the ceiling that she painted with her mother. "For that one moment, everything was perfect. And then that moment ended."

"Mother Gothel appeared once more, aged again," Adora showed the picture to the children as they all wore fearful expressions. "She sneaks into the nursery while (Y/n) is asleep in her crib. Gothel lifts a strand of (Y/n)'s hair and draws a pair of scissors from her cloak and begins singing the special song."

"But when she cuts the strand. It turned (h/c) and fell upon the mattress, powerless." (Y/n) says, holding the book so it faces the children. "Gothel broke into the castle and stole the child. Just like that... gone."

"The Kingdom searched and searched, but they could not find the Princess." Adora narrated, "For deep within the forest, in a hidden tower, Gothel raised the child as her own."

"Gothel had found her new magic flower." (Y/n) smiles sadly. "But this time she was determined to keep it hidden."

"Why can't I go outside? Said (Y/n)." (Y/n) asked in a child's voice, gazing at Adora as she read the other dialogue.

"The outside world is a dangerous place. Filled with horrible, selfish people. You must stay here, where you're safe. Do you understand, flower? Mother Gothel replied." Adora said in a slightly smoother voice.

"(Y/n) nodded sadly, gazing down at the crackling fire, 'Yes, Mommy.'" (Y/n) replied, turning to face the group again. "But the walls of that tower could not hide everything. For even after the King passed, each year on her birthday, the Queen and Princess released thousands of lanterns into the sky in hope that one day, their lost Princess would return."
