"We'll meet again, don't know where don't know when."

Third POV
It's been a few years since the 'warriors' infiltrated the walls. Five years to be exact. Bertolt never thought he would actually fall in love for a 'devil' on an Island that his homeland had so much resent for.

He never saw you as a 'devil' or an 'enemy'. He always saw you as Y/n. You didn't know he was the colossal or from Marley. You didn't know anything about Annie and Reiner's true identities.

He knew no matter how much you loved him you wouldn't be able to keep his real motives a secret. So, he never told you. He liked it that way. He liked knowing you didn't know anything important.

He had no reason to hurt you and again, he liked it that way. He didn't want to go through the whole Marco thing again.

"So, what's your deal with Y/n and you?" Reiner asks as Bertolt looks up from his lap and to then to the blonde.

"Hm?" Bertolt hums as Annie rolls her eyes.

"We can tell. You're getting too attached to her." Annie added, crossing her arms in front of her chest.

"What?" Bertolt asked, playing dumb. Not everyone knew about your relationship with him. "We're not stupid, you know?! You obviously have a thing for her!" Annie snapped and he slightly winced. He didn't know it had been that obvious.

"It's not like that," He sighed twiddling with his fingers, "I'm not in love with her nor do we have anything going on. I'm just sticking close to her to blend in." Bertolt explained as Annie muttered a few curse words under her breath to herself.

"Alright. Good." Reiner smiled as he clasped his hands together, fixing his posture. "We wouldn't want her to end up like Marco, right?" Reiner said in a serious tone as he blankly looked at Bertolt.

"Mhm, where is he?" You ask yourself as you walk down the narrow hallway dividing the rooms of every scout. You look at each door and then see Reiner's door. "Maybe he knows where Bertolt is." You went to knock, but quickly paused as you heard Reiner speak.

"We wouldn't want her to end up like Marco, right?"

"Watching Marco die was so traumatizing. I wouldn't want to do that again."

Your eyes widened as you remembered what happened to Marco. Or at least what you thought happened to your old friend. No one knew how he died. No one was there, but now you knew. Annie was there and they knew.

You pressed a hand on the door as the other held your english book. You placed your ear onto the door to eavesdrop on their conversation. The more you listened the more your eyes widened, your throat became dry, and your breath quickened.
