The pic on the side is of Kelsey! What do you guys think of her?
I didn't even go back until four in the morning. I drove all the way to Mount Dora and sat there. I could practically watch Ryan and I play there as kids. I walked around the town, past the elementary school, past the spot where I skinned my knee on the way home from school and he had me sit on the skateboard and pushed me all the way home.
I went past the little grocery store where Ryan and I ran off to once and bought three gallons of ice cream for us to share because Ryan found a twenty dollar bill in Mr. Scott's pants.
I went to the junk yard. Ryan and I thought anyone could go there and we did and played hide and seek, and then the police were called. We were grounded and I sat in front of my window for a week and he sat in front of his. During the day we would just talk to each other and then at night we would use a flashlight.
Morse code.
It wasn't until two thirty that I realize I need to go back.
I'm walking to the dorm door now.
The lights are on, Dylan and Naomi are on Naomi's bed and Ryan is on mine and they're whispering.
"Nice to know your alive." Naomi says. "We need to talk."
"I'm not getting lectured." I say, tossing my keys on my desk.
I don't make Ryan move, I just sit down on the bed.
"Long night?" Ryan asks.
"You have no idea." I mutter.
"Where'd you go?" He asks.
I snort. "Guess."
"Home?" He asks softly.
Nodding, I grab my baby blanket and cover my face with it, which is something I've been doing since I was able to grab things. I've been doing that since then when I'm upset.
Right when I cover my face, Ryan and Dylan sigh.
"Your Mother and Father and Marissa want you to call them. Your mother is pissed." Naomi says.
"Which is exactly why I'm not calling them." I mutter.
"Why are you covering your face?" Naomi asks.
"She's upset." Ryan and Dylan say in sync.
"You know that just by her covering her face?"
"Yes." They say.
"She's been doing that since she was able to grab things." Ryan whispers.
Everyone is silent for the longest time.
The door opens and I uncover my face. Nobody else has a key...
Mom walks in and she looks angry.
"Oh good, you decided to make an appearance at four in the morning. Let's go. Now." She points to the door.
I don't even try to argue, I just get up and walk out the door. Dad and Marissa are waiting outside.
"You're insane." Mom says. "You love him, but your pushing him away. Why?"
"Why do you care?" I ask angrily.
"Because you've been in love with him for a very long time!" Mom snaps.
"So? You didn't give a fuck when you ripped me away from him when I was ten." I snap loudly. "If you didn't take that fucking job, everything would be normal. I'd have friends. More importantly, I would have Ryan."
